Turn your eyes upon Jesus

1
O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There's light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
  In the light of His glory and grace.
2
Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
O'er us sin no more hath dominion
For more than conqu'rors we are!
3
His Word shall not fail you, He promised;
Believe Him and all will be well;
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!

Such beautiful words... a hymn with so much meaning... so different than the ever so repetitious words to a melody of the songs of today!

I use to sing this hymn years ago with the salvation army, the chorus had been going through my head for days, I had forgotten the verses. Thanks to everyone who puts these songs out there for us and the lost to find. I pray for a special blessing to all today. God is so Great, God Bless.

I only knew of the beautiful chorus, till today, then I found the rest of this great hymn. Jesus is better than we can imagine.

One of the best, wonderful beautiful face of my Lord Jesus Christ shall I always look upon. I love You so much my Lord. Thank you!

Beautiful song. On one level turning our eyes on Jesus helps us overcome hardship, but He's just so beautiful and so incomprehendingly good that the more aware of Him and His true nature we are, even really good things on this earth are just less interesting by comparison. I wish I was in this zone so much more.

We sang this yesterday at church and it changed my attitude towards life and all its challenges. I love the chorus so much it spoke straight to my heart.

"Paul not only counted all things loss for the sake of Christ, but counted all things as dung. According to his accounting, everything meant nothing. Because he always counted everything loss for the sake of Christ, he constantly enjoyed Christ. The more things you deny, the more Christ will replace you and the more He becomes your experience and enjoyment. Our slogan should be this: "Oh, that I may gain Christ!""
