Turn your eyes upon Jesus

1
O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There's light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free.
  Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
  In the light of His glory and grace.
2
Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
O'er us sin no more hath dominion
For more than conqu'rors we are!
3
His Word shall not fail you, He promised;
Believe Him and all will be well;
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!

I usually sing this when I am weary and troubled. I t reminds me to turn to Him. I also enjoy the words "look full"...not partial but full!

I thank God for this site, it has been such a blessing to me, an encouragement to keep holding on.

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

1. O soul are you and weary troubled? No light in the darkness you see? There's light for a look at the Savior, And life more abundant and free!

Turn your eyes upon

Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face; And the things of this earth will grow strangely dim In the light of His glory and grace.

2. Through death into life everlasting He past and we follow Him there; Over us sin no more hath dominion, For more than conquerors we are!

3. His word shall not fail you He promised; Believe him and all will be well: Then go to the world that is dying, His perfect salvation to tell!

The light of His glory is available for us to enjoy in the face of Jesus Christ (2 Cor. 4:6). Praise the Lord we can just look full in His wonderful face to receive His marvelous shining. May we all reflect His shining as we behold Him daily with an unveiled face (2 Cor. 3:18).

It helps me very much in my morning time with the Lord. I usually distracted with so many thoughts that claim my attention. And this hymn really causes me to turn away from them and to be focused on the Lord's radiant face.

I really enjoyed this hymn at a recent YP meeting. It touched me so much that by looking away unto Jesus, turning our eyes upon Him, we can see His lovely face and just unveil our heart at that moment. When we turn to the Lord, immediately all the things of the earth will fade away. There are so many distractions in the world today that take away from our relationship with the Lord. I'm so glad that just by turning to Him we can be in His presence once more. =)

A very beautiful song. I enjoyed this thoroughly during a blending conference in Atlanta, GA. It was concerning experiencing Christ as our Shepherd. Praise the Lord.

My husband was wrongfully put in jail by my vindictive daughter-in-law.

This song was the one thing that kept me going and it would calm me.

Especially when I would get scared he would go to prison for a very long time.

When I sang it to myself, God would calm my fears.

Everything came out A OKAY with God's help.

At first glance, I would probably consider this hymn to be a bit shallow or short of truth, but lately the Lord has blessed me with some experience of the chorus.

"Turn your eyes upon Jesus,

Look full in His wonderful face,

And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,

In the light of His glory and grace."

So often, my only focus is on my own situation, my own fears and concerns. I am totally selfish. I even refuse to turn to the Lord. However, this evening, the Lord was bothering me with the words of this chorus. I just need to turn my eyes on Him! What's important is not what is good for me, or what I want. The Lord has a desire. He wants to gain us fully, and this is done practically by our turning to Him. I want Him to be satisfied. Oh, may He keep us focused on Him hour by hour!
