What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.

"Oh what peace we often forfeit, oh what needless pain we bear!"
...But the Lord is with us the very second we call out His name. He longs to comfort us as a loving parent comforts a precious child. His love for us is beyond human comprehension.

This is one of the most wonderful songs of God's great love and goodness towards us! How encouraging and strengthening it is to us who walk with Him in our times of need. And to those who don't know God.....THIS is HE who loves you, and wants YOU to come to Him and cast your burdens on Him, for He TRULY CARES for you! He will forgive you your sins, and cleanse you from ALL unrighteousness, and He will draw you into His loving arms and take away all your pain. He will restore, and heal.......surrender YOUR will to Him, and let the peace of God that surpasses ALL understanding flood your heart and mind. Amen.

GOD, is a friend to the friendless. He Loves us so much that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. If GOD, never do another thing for me, He's ALREADY DONE ENOUGH! THANK YOU, JESUS!

Every time I listen to, or sing this song, I feel like crying. The lyrics and the music are so soothing that I feel Jesus close by. This old gospel song, and others in its category are highly needed for revivals in this age of 'modern Christianity'. This song can drive any one into prayers.

"This old standard hymn has always been a comfort and a strength to people. One reason is that it treats Jesus as a friend, brings Him close, makes Him a part of your life. And Jesus *can* be a friend if you *let* Him. Another reason for the strength of this song is that the author really believed this. I remember we were told in Sunday School that Jesus is not only someone great and far away, but someone friendly and close. The teacher told us that when the author was asked how he had come to write this song, he replied, "The Lord and I did it together." That's what I mean - you can't collaborate unless you're friends. I know enough about song writing to know that." - Tennessee Ernie Ford (1919 - 91)
