What a Friend we have in Jesus

What a Friend we have in Jesus,
  All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
  Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
  O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
  Everything to God in prayer!
2
Have we trials and temptations?
  Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
  Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
  Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
  Take it to the Lord in prayer.
3
Are we weak and heavy-laden,
  Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
  Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
  Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
  Thou wilt find a solace there.

Comforting words in the song. The song really made my day. Oh what peace we often forfeit oh what needless pain we bear all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer. Thank You Jesus.

These words are truly comforting and soothing, Jesus is our burden bearer, a lifter of sorrows, pain and all form of weakness.

I wanna bless God for the life of the writer of this lifting song. As each day passes by I always remember this song and sing it in my heart and there is always inner joy in me that makes me smile to Jesus Christ. I'm always strengthened, lifted, excited, and blessed beyond measure by this song. This is my song of victory.

Three weeks ago my first born son was killed on his way back to his brother’s house. Never has grief, so deep, caused me to be unable to function. Not only my own, but the grief of my three remaining sons & my grandchildren has shattered my life & devastated the entire family. I cry through the night & can’t sleep. I cry when a kind word is spoken to me, I am inconsolable. I call upon Jesus for help, yet I cannot deal with this crippling loss.

Then today a young friend told me the story of how What a Friend We have in Jesus came into being. I realise Jesus is the only One who can help me so I will turn to the words of this hymn and also prayer He will make me to lie down in green pastures & lead me beside still waters and, in all the experiences of my 70 years will indeed be my closest & dearest Friend.

Not an imperfection, not a blemish, that is Jesus our friend now and for all eternity.

I have been out of prayer for a while, not having strength to pray and did not know what to do until our morning devotion that ended with this song . Now I now know I can take my weaknesses to God in prayer.

My dear Nikki,

My heart aches for you. I am praying for you right now so that God will give you supernatural strength. It doesn't make any sense why things like that happen but we have to keep pushing forward and cling to God especially in our darkest hours. I absolutely feel your sorrow and the only other comforting words I can offer is to know that you will be reunited with your precious little girl again. God be with you and give you supernatural strength and peace. I am praying for you.
