The cross it standeth fast,
Hallelujah! hallelujah!
Defying every blast,
Hallelujah! hallelujah!
The winds of hell have blown,
The world its hate hath shown,
Yet it is not overthrown,
Hallelujah for the cross!
Hallelujah! hallelujah!
Defying every blast,
Hallelujah! hallelujah!
The winds of hell have blown,
The world its hate hath shown,
Yet it is not overthrown,
Hallelujah for the cross!
Hallelujah, hallelujah,
Hallelujah for the cross;
Hallelujah, hallelujah,
It shall never suffer loss.
Hallelujah for the cross;
Hallelujah, hallelujah,
It shall never suffer loss.

It is the old cross still,
Hallelujah! hallelujah!
Its triumph let us tell,
Hallelujah! hallelujah!
The grace of God here shone,
Through Christ the blessed Son,
Who hath redemption won,
Hallelujah for the cross!
Hallelujah! hallelujah!
Its triumph let us tell,
Hallelujah! hallelujah!
The grace of God here shone,
Through Christ the blessed Son,
Who hath redemption won,
Hallelujah for the cross!

’Twas here the debt was paid,
Hallelujah! hallelujah!
Our sins on Jesus laid,
Hallelujah! hallelujah!
So round the cross we sing
Of Christ, our offering,
Of Christ, our living King,
Hallelujah for the cross!
Hallelujah! hallelujah!
Our sins on Jesus laid,
Hallelujah! hallelujah!
So round the cross we sing
Of Christ, our offering,
Of Christ, our living King,
Hallelujah for the cross!

So glad to have sung this in our choir many years ago. The truth still applies today.

how we need this song today; a mighty anthem to sing now and at Jesus' feet one day.

The cross it standeth fast defying every blast! Of it does - In Him was life and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness did not overcome it. Jn 1:4-5. Halleujah Jesus Christ is Lord!
Hallelujah for the cross - the crucified Christ! Thank You Slave-Saviour, Lion-Lamb. Good job done! Thank you.

This hymn came back to me while driving to work (75' drive each way). Couldn't remember all the words. Thank you www.hymnal.net for providing them... And the piano music! In this day of increasing persecution, this is one hymn I want committed to memory.
Powerful. Learned the song about 18 years ago still as powerful to my soul!
