At Calvary

1
Years I spent in vanity and pride,
Caring not my Lord was crucified,
Knowing not it was for me He died
  On Calvary.

Mercy there was great, and grace was free;
Pardon there was multiplied to me;
There my burdened soul found liberty,
    At Calvary.
2
By God’s Word at last my sin I learned;
Then I trembled at the law I’d spurned,
Till my guilty soul imploring turned
  To Calvary.
3
Now I’ve giv’n to Jesus everything,
Now I gladly own Him as my King,
Now my raptured soul can only sing
  Of Calvary.
4
Oh, the love that drew salvation’s plan!
Oh, the grace that brought it down to man!
Oh, the mighty gulf that God did span
  At Calvary!

I stumbled on this song one morning after my devotion and meditation. I never used to sing the song before. But I have heard the song sang by passersby. So on that faithful morning of praying and pleading with God to help me, behold this song came up. I did not know the wordings, all I knew was at calvary and o. So I goggled that and this song popped up. It became the answer to my prayer.

'The love of God is great and his grace is free. His pardon to me is mulplied, my burden soul found liberty because of God greatest gift of His son Jesus Christ.

I sang this song everyday. I forwarded it to my friends and family. I am amazed by the meaning embedded in this song.

God drew the salvation plan for sinful mankind in love.

God's grace brought this plan to man only at Calvary. Hallelujah. What a loving Father.

Heard this song out of the blue yesterday (Good Friday) It was sung acapella by an all mens choir. Spellbinding is how I will describe it. So much so that this morning it was the first thing I've been thinking about since I woke up. It has been years since I remember singing it but it came back to me like I have always known it. I fell to my knees in worship of Jesus, as I realize that all of my salvation hinges on Him coming, Thank you Lord Jesus! Thank you Father God for sending HIm. There is nothing in this world as important as knowing Jesus. I love you Lord. He is the kindest, most loving Lord, and He is the only way to God our Father. Blessings to all of you out there.

I remember singing this song as a child. It brought back wonderful memories of coming into the knowledge of who Jesus is and receiving him as my Savior along with my parents and sister.

Without calvary there is no song to sing. Praise a loving Father and an obedient Son.

"By God’s Word at last my sin I learned;

Then I trembled at the law I’d spurned,

Till my guilty soul imploring turned

To Calvary."

"Pardon there was multiplied to me;

There my burdened soul found liberty,

At Calvary. :

Thank you for the lyrics.. I have been trying to get this song down since we sing it at church and it seems to be one of my favorite.. may the Lord God And Jesus Christ be with us all.. our time I feel is very limited... I pray that those lost find the true light and Satan is tricking alot acting as God and it hardens my heart for those people who truly believe that they are serving the true Messiah but unfortunately not . be careful children... it's getting that close.. ur sister, Jessica. Much love to all and here for any lost person seeking for help.... Don't Be Fooled!! The Holy Bible is the only way to know the difference between the Jesus of heaven and the fake Jesus of Earth... God as well.. he's trying everything my friends so be aware!!

This morning this hymn popped into my mind & I tried to look it up in several different old denominational hymn books and it just was not there. I began to think I was wrong about the title being "At Calvary" so I found your website & thankfully the song was there. I remember back in the 1950's the strong presence of the Holy Spirit as my grandfather led the singing of this song back in a tiny wooden church building in Palatka Florida. This was a real blessing today as the warmth of the Holy Spirit continually brings me into the Father's presence.

I'm 72 years and this is my favorite hymn.

We sang this the day I was saved in 1959.

God is is so Good.

God's Grace to all

There my burdened soul found liberty. That is a wonderful fact that I need constant reminding of.
