Faith of our fathers, living still
In spite of dungeon, fire and sword,
O how our hearts beat high with joy
Whene’er we hear that glorious word!
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death!
In spite of dungeon, fire and sword,
O how our hearts beat high with joy
Whene’er we hear that glorious word!
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death!

Our fathers, chained in prisons dark,
Were still in heart and conscience free;
And blest would be their children’s fate,
If they, like them should die for thee:
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death!
Were still in heart and conscience free;
And blest would be their children’s fate,
If they, like them should die for thee:
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death!

Faith of our fathers, we will strive
To win all nations unto thee;
And through the truth that comes from God
Mankind shall then indeed be free.
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death!
To win all nations unto thee;
And through the truth that comes from God
Mankind shall then indeed be free.
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death!

Faith of our fathers, we will love
Both friend and foe in all our strife,
And preach thee, too, as love knows how
By kindly words and virtuous life.
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death!
Both friend and foe in all our strife,
And preach thee, too, as love knows how
By kindly words and virtuous life.
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death!

So blessed with the words of this Hymn this afternoon. I work up from bed with the tune of this Hymn.
And I made some effort to get it.

Indeed, we have been sold out to hold forth truthfully to the faith of our fathers. To defend it and uphold it. God helping us. I love this hymn.

The anchor of this song is on the first and second line of the first stanza of this hymn.
Here we see an impeccable faith, an uncompromizable faith. A first inspired by true love of our savior Christ. A faith mysterious to a carnal man. What a faith that won't give inspite of dungeon and fire.
When the wicked rose against the unity of the body of Christ, when they rose to condemn to death all who gathered in the name of our Lord as a church.
Threatened by fire, reptiles, swords, amongst others, just to enforce recanting of our holy faith. But yet, the faith of our fathers, their holy faith, remained true to God till death.
Oh! What a wonderful path to follow. Oh what a wonderful faith to emulate. Oh what a wonderful love to continue. At this times of perplexity, at this time of trials, at this moment of chaos. Oh what an inspiration to us Christians.
Stay still and steadfast on your faith as our fathers did, even though it cost your life, it is only a beginning to a new life eternal in a world of no sorrows, no pain, no weeping. A dwelling place of our father, "Heaven".
There's absolutely nothing to regret when we cling to that old rugged cross.
Peace be unto us. Amen!
