Faith of our fathers, living still

E830 T830
1
Faith of our fathers, living still
In spite of dungeon, fire and sword,
O how our hearts beat high with joy
Whene’er we hear that glorious word!
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death!
2
Our fathers, chained in prisons dark,
Were still in heart and conscience free;
And blest would be their children’s fate,
If they, like them should die for thee:
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death!
3
Faith of our fathers, we will strive
To win all nations unto thee;
And through the truth that comes from God
Mankind shall then indeed be free.
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death!
4
Faith of our fathers, we will love
Both friend and foe in all our strife,
And preach thee, too, as love knows how
By kindly words and virtuous life.
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death!

The Battle Song of the last Revival preceeding the Rapture!

Thank our LORD JESUS CHRIST, THE ALMIGHTY GOD, for the inspiration and preservation of the lyrics and tune!

This song inspires me so deeply.

It reminds me of the heroes of faith who had worked tirelessly in faith and resting in glory.

It's a call for us to keep the fire of the Gospel of Lord Jesus Christ burning till the end.

The first time I heard this hymn was at St Micheal cathedral Aba, since then it has been a reflection song for me. Great work from Frederick William Faber, in fact this song is truly a massage to mankind.

It's really heart(❤️)touching.

Lord give me the grace to dwell in your word and to hold on to you all my life.

One small quibble - Fr. Faber originally wrote 'England' rather than 'mankind'. I realise it's to internationalise the hymn but I still pray for England's conversion and ask you too.
