For Thee all the pleasures of sin I resign;
My gracious Redeemer, my Savior art Thou,
If ever I loved Thee, Lord Jesus, ’tis now.
And purchased my pardon on Calvary’s tree;
I love Thee for wearing the thorns on Thy brow;
If ever I loved Thee, Lord Jesus, ’tis now.
And praise Thee as long as Thou lendest me breath;
And say when the death-dew lies cold on my brow,
If ever I loved Thee, Lord Jesus, ’tis now.
I’ll ever adore Thee in glory so bright;
I’ll sing with the glittering crown on my brow,
If ever I loved Thee, Lord Jesus, ’tis now.

Oh how I love the second line in Stanza 2; Jesus has purchased our ticket to enter the Kingdom of Heaven on the cross of Calvary.

Norma C. Fay, Am so touched by your story and that is why I keep desiring the FAITH OF OUR FATHERS.
As David will say in Psalms 22:4 "Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.
Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and the people of Israel when in Egypt, in the times of the judges, and in all ages, as they were sojourners, and went from place to place, especially the patriarchs, and were often in trouble and distress, when they called upon you LORD, looked to YOU, and put their trust and confidence in YOU. Their confidence and trust was not in themselves, their own wisdom, riches, and strength, not in others, not in any mere creature, nor in any outward thing, or arm of flesh. But in you the Lord Jehovah, in whom is everlasting strength Hallelujah. They believed in your power that you were able to help and deliver them, and they had faith in you Lord. They depended upon YOUR WORD and PROMISE, and were PERSUADED you would never suffer YOUR faithfulness to fail. Our fathers committed themselves to you Lord, and stayed themselves on you. they constantly and continually put their faith and trust in you at all times.
Our father Paul and others apostles hung their faith only on you and the SAYINGS OF YOURS which is always true.
That is why PAUL will say, “FOR ME TO LIVE IS CHRIST AND TO DIE IS GAIN” because they have the FAITH knowing whom they believed and are persuaded that you are able to keep that which they commit unto you.
OH FAITH OF OUR FATHERS A HOLY FAITH, I WILL BE TRUE TO YOU TILL I DIE.
Amen

I was feeling a bit low, so I thought I would have a little nap. This song came to my mind, so I looked up the words. After reading the words, I was re-energised, my soul was revived. When I think of what Jesus has done for me, I cannot help but to totally abandon myself in His love. As in verse 3 : “ And praise Thee as long as Thou lendeth me breath” Hallelujah

I am preaching at Haifa Baptist Church and I have chosen this hymn as my sermon. My sermon is about the Greatest Love demonstrated by our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus commanded us to love others just as He has loved us. The basis of His final judgment will be on how we demonstrated that too in the hurting world. Not our education, wealth and advancement made in the world, but how to respond to the needs of the least of His: the poor, orphans, refugees, hungry people in and around us. By doing these, we prove that we love the Lord Jesus.

We only have “now” to love our Lord Jesus. We can’t delay coming to Him and giving ourselves to Him. “If ever I love the Lord Jesus tis now”.

I was listening to hymns with my mom who was on her death bed with cancer and advanced Alzheimers. She could no longer speak. When this song came on, I started to sing with the second to the last verse. Then I got choked up. She turned her face to me, looked into my eyes and started mouthing the words. She breathed her last breath at the end of the song. Praise God she is home with Jesus. I will never forget this beautiful song.
