For Thee all the pleasures of sin I resign;
My gracious Redeemer, my Savior art Thou,
If ever I loved Thee, Lord Jesus, ’tis now.
And purchased my pardon on Calvary’s tree;
I love Thee for wearing the thorns on Thy brow;
If ever I loved Thee, Lord Jesus, ’tis now.
And praise Thee as long as Thou lendest me breath;
And say when the death-dew lies cold on my brow,
If ever I loved Thee, Lord Jesus, ’tis now.
I’ll ever adore Thee in glory so bright;
I’ll sing with the glittering crown on my brow,
If ever I loved Thee, Lord Jesus, ’tis now.

As a new Christian in the 1970s we sang this wonderful hymn in our church.
It’s precious and true.
Only recently I heard it again adapted and re-arranged.
Just glad it’s being sung again.

I will never be able to thank my Jesus Christ enough for what He did for me not only on the cross, but for election in eternity past, according to Romans 8:28-30. I just want to submit myself to Him completely, worship and serve Him until I die.

I pray Lord that may every day we declare it boldly "if we ever loved Thee, Lord Jesus 'tis now". very day may our love be stronger and deeper than ever before .. our Beloved Jesus.

I heard this for the first time 4 weeks ago and it stuck in my mind. It has never left my mind since and I prayed to God to reveal to me why. It was revealed to me by Jesus Himself when He appeared at God's right hand clapping and singing and telling me that He loved this song. I have tears in my eyes every time I sing it and remembering Jesus love for me.
Thank You Jesus for bringing me from the depths of evil to the light even though I was not worthy of it. If ever I loved You my Jesus, 'tis now.

Thank you so much. Memory of this hymn started humming in the back of my brain, and I was eager to look it up to refresh the lyrics to me. What a rich relationship the auther had with Jesus! He had blessed me beyond anything I could have imagined. I love You, Lord Jesus.

Lately I've felt so weak spiritually that all can do is pray and sing this hymn. I learned as a young child in church though I was not converted until I was 30.
If any feel led to pray for me please do, I need Jesus to renew me and cleanse me from my sins so I can move forward. I've wasted my life I'm afraid and want to be of use to God in the time I have left. 'I need Thee Lord Jesus I know Thou art mine,.... from all of the follies of sin I resign'.

I love this hymn, but as I sing it I feel there are two lines, one in verse two and the other in verse four that just don’t seem right. In verse two our lovely Jesus wore the cursed crown of thorns on His brow, while in verse four, I wear a glittering crown upon my brow. He wore the crown that I deserved, so that I can wear the crown that belongs only to Him! Thank you Beloved Christ for Your love and what You did, “If ever I loved Thee, Lord Jesus, ‘tis now”.

We sang this in Christ Church, Jerusalem, in Easter week - on the night on which Jesus was betrayed, in the city where Jesus was betrayed. It is decades since I had last heard this hymn in church, but the words gripped me. They are still on my heart "If ever I loved Thee, Lord Jesus, 'tis now." Yes, indeed, our love for Him must be now.
