For Thee all the pleasures of sin I resign;
My gracious Redeemer, my Savior art Thou,
If ever I loved Thee, Lord Jesus, ’tis now.
And purchased my pardon on Calvary’s tree;
I love Thee for wearing the thorns on Thy brow;
If ever I loved Thee, Lord Jesus, ’tis now.
And praise Thee as long as Thou lendest me breath;
And say when the death-dew lies cold on my brow,
If ever I loved Thee, Lord Jesus, ’tis now.
I’ll ever adore Thee in glory so bright;
I’ll sing with the glittering crown on my brow,
If ever I loved Thee, Lord Jesus, ’tis now.

My mom passed into glory mouthing the words to this song even though she had Alzheimer's and could no longer speak. I was playing hymns on my phone and singing this one to her and this was the song that ushered her home ❤🕊 Sweet, beautiful memory for me that always brings me to tears of gratefulness for God's great love and mercy.

Today is my birthday, and this is the song that God gave me as I woke up. What a beautiful reminder of all the God has done for me and all the gratefulness I have in my heart for the 50 years that I’ve known him. Blessings to all

Beautiful Hymn which brings back memories for me. My Father when he would sing would always say “And say should the death dew lie cold on my brow”. He believed, as do I, that when Christ comes the second time the dead in Christ will rise first then those who are alive and remain will be caught up to meet Him in the air. For those there will be no death dew lying cold on their brow.

I first learnt this hymn when I was at the Mount Mary Teacher Training College in 2010. I've always loved it, but I never took the time to read about it's background and that of the composer. What a story! What a hymn! What a blessing to the world! As we get blessed by this soul soothing words of a humble work of genius, may God help us to also make our own share of contribution towards buiding the body of Christ. Amen!
