1
Out of my bondage, sorrow, and night,
Jesus, I come! Jesus, I come!
Into Thy freedom, gladness, and light,
    Jesus, I come to Thee!
Out of my sickness into Thy health,
Out of my want and into Thy wealth,
Out of my sin and into Thyself,
    Jesus, I come to Thee!
2
Out of my shameful failure and loss,
Jesus, I come! Jesus, I come!
Into the glorious gain of Thy cross,
    Jesus, I come to Thee!
Out of earth’s sorrows into Thy balm,
Out of life’s storm and into Thy calm,
Out of distress to jubilant psalm,
    Jesus, I come to Thee!
3
Out of unrest and arrogant pride,
Jesus, I come! Jesus, I come!
Into Thy blessed will to abide,
    Jesus, I come to Thee!
Out of myself to dwell in Thy love,
Out of despair into raptures above,
Upward for aye on wings like a dove,
    Jesus, I come to Thee!
4
Out of the fear and dread of the tomb,
Jesus, I come! Jesus, I come!
Into the joy and pleasure, Thine own,
    Jesus, I come to Thee!
Out of the depths of ruin untold,
Into the flock Thy love doth enfold,
Ever Thy glorious face to behold,
    Jesus, I come to Thee!

As a teen in Choir in the 70's the song drew many souls to Christ. It always humble my soul am happy to get to have the whole verses again. Jesus is the same forever. Thank You for saving me Lord.

Love the words. We found the hymn while reading a Corrie Ten Boom book "In My Father's House" . The testimony of how beautifully God used this made me want to look it up. So glad I got to read all the verses. We'll have to have this at church soon!

A great hymn that reminds us that any time we try to come out of where we are, we are going to where Jesus is.

I love this hymn, it has been a real comfort to me in the time of real trouble I am going through now. Even though I may be a failure, Jesus is my strength and my song, and my salvation. He is everything I am not and in Him I am so blessed! Alleluia!

Although Jesus is my Savior, whenever I sing this hymn there is always something that His finger points to in me. He is calling to come out, out, out! He wants to be the only One! All the positive items that are entered into are just Christ! It is not only a change of situation, or solving a problem, but it is Him!

Stanza 4 is re-translated:

4. Out of the might of death of the foe,

Jesus, I come! Jesus, I come!

Into the life that Christ does bestow,

Jesus, I come to Thee!

Out of the hopeless, endless abyss,

Into the home of refuge and bliss,

E'er to behold Thy face, glorious;

Jesus, I come to Thee!
