Out of my bondage, sorrow, and night,
Jesus, I come! Jesus, I come!
Into Thy freedom, gladness, and light,
    Jesus, I come to Thee!
Out of my sickness into Thy health,
Out of my want and into Thy wealth,
Out of my sin and into Thyself,
    Jesus, I come to Thee!
2
Out of my shameful failure and loss,
Jesus, I come! Jesus, I come!
Into the glorious gain of Thy cross,
    Jesus, I come to Thee!
Out of earth’s sorrows into Thy balm,
Out of life’s storm and into Thy calm,
Out of distress to jubilant psalm,
    Jesus, I come to Thee!
3
Out of unrest and arrogant pride,
Jesus, I come! Jesus, I come!
Into Thy blessed will to abide,
    Jesus, I come to Thee!
Out of myself to dwell in Thy love,
Out of despair into raptures above,
Upward for aye on wings like a dove,
    Jesus, I come to Thee!
4
Out of the fear and dread of the tomb,
Jesus, I come! Jesus, I come!
Into the joy and pleasure, Thine own,
    Jesus, I come to Thee!
Out of the depths of ruin untold,
Into the flock Thy love doth enfold,
Ever Thy glorious face to behold,
    Jesus, I come to Thee!

I have sang and read these lyrics for over 50 years! However it has just now occurred to me that this is the true essence of biblical repentance! God calls us to Jesus, out of our sin and into Himself! What a beautiful thought! Simply come to Jesus! How wonderful and powerful!

I dreamed I had quoted the lyrics of this hymn during a sermon. After the service a lady attending asked me if I know what its number was in our hymnal, then asked to borrow a hymnal so she could play it on her piano at home. She has an accomplished voice and one evening during that following week she did play it and was singing it as her husband and children came home for supper. The lyrics and tune so struck their hearts (all of whom were non Christians) that they did not want to eat supper but wanted to come to Christ immediately! What a wonderful dream, I wish I could see it happen in real life!

I was full of thoughts as I was doing my work this early hour of today. 13/10/2017. As I finished and I wanted to pray with a friend this song came to my heart. It has been so long I sang it. The Lord bless my heart through it. Glory be to God.

This song led me to Jesus at age 14 at a Church of Christ in Taft, California. I obeyed the gospel and was water baptized by immersing on 11 April 1963. I want everyone to know Him and be saved. ~selah

Never heard of it till now. Guess our minds as young people are being successfully being drawn to the New-Christian music, which is all nonsense. But may our Sovereign Lord help us win the race to heaven.

So my mom asked me to download it for her and I find myself continuously playing it.

"Out of my shameful failure and loss, out of the sorrows, out of distress, out OF UNREST AND ARROGANT PRIDE, Jesus I come." My exact current problems but Jesus I come to Thee.

Jesus I come to Thee! Out of myself and to dwell in Thy love!

Such a blessing I think of these old hymns compared to the modern worship songs and those modern worship songs are nothing compared to old hymns. You know the first encouragement a Christian needs is the encouragement of good Godly music, and the modern worship is not good Godly music. These hymns encouraged me a lot more than the modern music did. I was encouraged to keep on going though the race is tough farther along we'll understand it all by and by. Jesus saves and to God be the glory for in Jesus Name for Christ sake, and His cause.

Stanza 4 is re-translated:

4. Out of the might of death of the foe,

Jesus, I come! Jesus, I come!

Into the life that Christ does bestow,

Jesus, I come to Thee!

Out of the hopeless, endless abyss,

Into the home of refuge and bliss,

E'er to behold Thy face, glorious;

Jesus, I come to Thee!
