Will your anchor hold in the storms of life

1
Will your anchor hold in the storms of life,
When the clouds unfold their wings of strife?
When the strong tides lift, and the cables strain,
Will your anchor drift or firm remain?

We have an anchor that keeps the soul
Stedfast and sure while the billows roll,
Fastened to the Rock which cannot move,
  Grounded firm and deep in the Savior's love.
2
It is safely moored, 'twill the storm withstand,
For 'tis well secured by the Savior's hand;
And the cables passed from His heart to mine,
Can defy the blast, through strength divine.
3
It will firmly hold in the straits of fear,
When the breakers have told the reef is near;
Though the tempest rave and the wild winds blow,
Not an angry wave shall our bark o'erflow.
4
It will surely hold in the floods of death,
When the waters cold chill our latest breath;
On the rising tide it can never fail,
While our hopes abide within the veil.

In my Christian life, nothing has been worthy than being at the feet of Christ and listening from Him speak to me through hymns songs. This song has been my best renditions in my Christian journey to heaven. Having lost all my parents at an early age, the church became my parent. When I got converted into ths new family, I heard ths song first. It keeps giving me hope of a new heaven and a new earth where there will be no pain, death or hunger. May our lives be a testimony unto others. Amen!

This song has always been a source of inspiration to me since I learnt it 34 years ago. I came to this site today looking for the lyrics to be used in our first service in February. Thank God for the life of the composer and the brethren that has made it freely available. God bless you all.

I am a Methodist from Hastings E Sussex and have lived in Zambia since 1965. On my small holding we have a project for needy kids and their families. The children in the neighbourhood come to have lessons in literacy and have a high protein meal 6 days a week. We start with an assembly where they sing and learn poems and rhymes. This hymn is one of their favourites and they play tambourines when the sing the chorus.

I learnt this song at elementary school. The song lifts my spirit any time I am down and I see challenges in front of me. It has been such an inspirational song for me and as a committed Methodist, I enjoy singing it with my own voice.

We are singing this at my mum's funeral on Wednesday 17th August. She was 90 years of age. This song was chosen by my two sons were boys brigade members for many years. We used to watch them march through the streets in their uniforms, what a wonderful sight and sound it was. No more I fear what a loss to the youth of today.
