Will your anchor hold in the storms of life

1
Will your anchor hold in the storms of life,
When the clouds unfold their wings of strife?
When the strong tides lift, and the cables strain,
Will your anchor drift or firm remain?
  We have an anchor that keeps the soul
Stedfast and sure while the billows roll,
Fastened to the Rock which cannot move,
  Grounded firm and deep in the Savior's love.
2
It is safely moored, 'twill the storm withstand,
For 'tis well secured by the Savior's hand;
And the cables passed from His heart to mine,
Can defy the blast, through strength divine.
3
It will firmly hold in the straits of fear,
When the breakers have told the reef is near;
Though the tempest rave and the wild winds blow,
Not an angry wave shall our bark o'erflow.
4
It will surely hold in the floods of death,
When the waters cold chill our latest breath;
On the rising tide it can never fail,
While our hopes abide within the veil.

This hymn is ever-relevant and the message is so profound it will bless the most hurting of us mortals! As we go through rough patches in this journey called "life," we need to be reassured that Jesus is still in charge of our affairs "For we have not a High Priest Who cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities...." Heb 4:15

He is the Rock that cannot move and therefore we can boldly say 'We have an anchor that keeps the soul!'

I am currently experiencing some challenges in my life and needed to be reassured that God is still in control. This song speaks to my situation, I am being reminded that Jesus is my anchor which keeps the soul. The words are very profound and I am persuaded that God will come through when He sees it necessary.

Whenever it seems that things are spinning out of control in your life, take out time and meditate on the words of this hymn and also read Hebrews 6:13-20. This hymn reminds me of the good old days at the UNN Christ Chapel during the early 1980s, when we used to sing it quite often. It was most favorite hymn for our then Chaplain, Rev Cyril Anyanwu, who later became Bishop Mbaise Anglican Diocese. Each time I sing or hear this hymn sung it reminds me of the ever-smiling face of that humble and dedicated servant of God, who is now of the blessed memories.

Only the anchors grounded in Christ will hold, may God give us the grace to remain steadfast in times of trials.

I get humbled anytime I hear this song. It reminds me of how far the Lord has raised me through my infancy. If He has brought me this far then He can take me that far. My Hope is indeed, anchored in Jesus.

I was reading Hebrews chapter 6 and wanted a song to help me remember the key points of the text. I chose the word "hold" for my search in my hymnal and found this song.

This songs serves as a source of hope and inspiration. I wish the whole world could pause and sing it out out loud, spreading the hope. Praise God, Allelujah.

Every time I sing this hymn it stirs my spirit up. I wonder why we don't sing so many hymns in our worship services these days.

One of my all time favourites, belted out over many years as a boys brigadier in Sheffield, England. Whenever I hear it or sing it to myself, it reminds me of the world 50 odd years ago and my Methodist upbringing which despite a career in business held me fast to values and principles that still endure.

The Lord has just reminded me of this song...going through a challenging time and so I needed to be reminded of the words.
