What a Friend we have in Jesus

1
What a Friend we have in Jesus,
  All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
  Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
  O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
  Everything to God in prayer!
2
Have we trials and temptations?
  Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
  Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
  Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
  Take it to the Lord in prayer.
3
Are we weak and heavy-laden,
  Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
  Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
  Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
  Thou wilt find a solace there.

Like others who have commented, the words “take it to the Lord in prayer” came to my mind late in the night. Reminded of the One who loves me most and best. Cares for my every need; even (and maybe especially) those that are heaviest on my heart. Father, thru your Son my Lord, I lay the cares of my heart before you. Grant me Peace and guidance from the Holy Spirt this day. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

Before getting up, early morning, wife just gone to work, reflecting on all the mistakes in my life and my worries about getting things right, I was asking Jesus, who I am learning to think of as a friend (not just “The Lord Jesus Christ in Glory”), for help, and this song crept into my mind, and I decided this was from God so I looked up the lyrics and read them and was encouraged. I also read all the wonderful comments about how it is still helping so many people day by day. How I wish and pray I had helped my children, and that God will help me help my children, love to seek His help also.

Comfort and peace come from remembering His friendship His strength — I just sang this hymn to my frustrated son, to remind him of peace through prayer, and doing it brought peace again to both our hearts.

Feeling weary about the situation globally so I googled what the bible says about it. It was very nice to read scripture & bring it back to He who created us & will always take care of us. This song was a beautiful reminder to pray for all.. Praying for my sister who lost her husband to cancer yesterday... Praying for my husbands brother who is very sick with cancer... May the peace that passes all understanding be with you all.
