1
I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining every day;
Still praying as I onward bound,
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”
Lord, lift me up, and let me stand
By faith on Canaan’s tableland;
A higher plane than I have found,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
2
My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where these abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.
Lord, lift me up, and let me stand
By faith on Canaan’s tableland;
A higher plane than I have found,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
3
I want to live above the world,
Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.
Lord, lift me up, and let me stand
By faith on Canaan’s tableland;
A higher plane than I have found,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
4
I want to scale the utmost height
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I’ll pray till rest I’ve found,
“Lord, lead me on to higher ground.”
Lord, lift me up, and let me stand
By faith on Canaan’s tableland;
A higher plane than I have found,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

Our voice, our words, our actions - all must synchronize to invite the LORD to lift us up. Like a little child, who has had enough from playing with toys, let us throw up our hands to our Father above to lift us up from our normal ways of life into the heights of unknown experience. LORD LIFT ME UP

It's a beautiful song any day. The Lord's never changing - that's why I can't get weary of the lyrics.

This song reminds me about the men and women of faith that has gone away. It encourages me to continue on my journey.

This hymn was my wedding procession song and any time the song is sang it make me remember my covenant with my wife. Even when I am in bad mode it has the power to change my emission.

I need not to be told that everyday that God allows me to be alive is another opportunity for me to continue pressing on, the upward way...because as I press on, new height I gain, while praying as I onward bound, I trust that God will plant my feet on higher ground. This song is inspiring and it makes me come to terms with the fact that, it is God and Him alone will see me through in all me undertaking. I can't sing this less because my heart has no desire to continue to stay in this world where doubts arise and fears dismay; though there are those who may want dwell where these abound, but my prayer, my aim is the higher ground...Lord, in Your mercy, lead me on to higher ground. Amen.
