There is a fountain filled with blood

1
There is a fountain filled with blood
  Drawn from Immanuel’s veins;
And sinners, plunged beneath that flood,
  Lose all their guilty stains:
  Lose all their guilty stains,
  Lose all their guilty stains;
And sinners, plunged beneath that flood,
  Lose all their guilty stains.
2
The dying thief rejoiced to see
  That fountain in his day;
And there may I, though vile as he,
  Wash all my sins away:
  Wash all my sins away,
  Wash all my sins away;
And there may I, though vile as he,
  Wash all my sins away.
3
Dear dying Lamb, Thy precious blood
  Shall never lose its power,
Till all the ransomed ones of God
  Be saved, to sin no more:
  Be saved, to sin no more,
  Be saved, to sin no more;
Till all the ransomed ones of God,
  Be saved to sin no more.
4
E’er since by faith I saw the stream
  Thy flowing wounds supply,
Redeeming love has been my theme,
  And shall be till I die:
  And shall be till I die,
  And shall be till I die;
Redeeming love has been my theme,
  And shall be till I die.
5
When this poor lisping, stammering tongue
  Lies silent in the grave,
Then in a nobler, sweeter song,
  I’ll sing Thy power to save:
  I’ll sing Thy power to save,
  I’ll sing Thy power to save;
Then in a nobler, sweeter song,
  I’ll sing Thy power to save.

Brother William Cowper, a devote man prone to episodes of mental illness and depression wrote this beautiful hymn. Which is one of my favorites of all time. GOD breathed these wonderful words of praise into his soul - GOD isn't looking for superstars. In fact, GOD only uses broken things. It was a broken law that cried for a broken Saviour. It is a broken Saviour that looks for a broken heart. For only could a broken heart receive a crucified Saviour. Blessings, Love, and Light through Christ Jesus the LORD. ✝️❤🕯📖🙏🕊💒

It's that time of the year again to ponder over the sacrificial life and death of Jesus and no hymn does it better than this one! I'm so moved to be blessed by this hynm again tonight!

This is my favorite hymn! I have a copy of Olney Hymns. There are two additional stanzas that are left off of current hymnals.

6. Lord I believe thou hast prepared

(Unworthy though I be)

For me a blood-bought free reward,

A golden harp for me.

7. ‘Tis strung, and tuned, for endless years,

And formed by power divine;

To sound to God the Father’s ears

No other name but thine.

This song is very dear to my family it was the last song that my great grandad Cleo Fancher lead before he got really sick and couldn’t lead songs anymore and the line “When this poor lisping stammering tongue lies silent in the grave” it always reminded my dad of when he visited him in the hospital and seeing his swollen tongue and couldn’t talk or sing and because he loved music and singing so much he thought his children and they taught their children and they taught us and I am so grateful for the legacy that Great grandad has left because now we can keep singing praises to our God and we can continue to sing in heaven I’m so glad that God put me in this family my love for music would never be the same
