There is a fountain filled with blood

1
There is a fountain filled with blood
  Drawn from Immanuel’s veins;
And sinners, plunged beneath that flood,
  Lose all their guilty stains:
  Lose all their guilty stains,
  Lose all their guilty stains;
And sinners, plunged beneath that flood,
  Lose all their guilty stains.
2
The dying thief rejoiced to see
  That fountain in his day;
And there may I, though vile as he,
  Wash all my sins away:
  Wash all my sins away,
  Wash all my sins away;
And there may I, though vile as he,
  Wash all my sins away.
3
Dear dying Lamb, Thy precious blood
  Shall never lose its power,
Till all the ransomed ones of God
  Be saved, to sin no more:
  Be saved, to sin no more,
  Be saved, to sin no more;
Till all the ransomed ones of God,
  Be saved to sin no more.
4
E’er since by faith I saw the stream
  Thy flowing wounds supply,
Redeeming love has been my theme,
  And shall be till I die:
  And shall be till I die,
  And shall be till I die;
Redeeming love has been my theme,
  And shall be till I die.
5
When this poor lisping, stammering tongue
  Lies silent in the grave,
Then in a nobler, sweeter song,
  I’ll sing Thy power to save:
  I’ll sing Thy power to save,
  I’ll sing Thy power to save;
Then in a nobler, sweeter song,
  I’ll sing Thy power to save.

I appreciate all the recent comments I read. I think the Lord for this and other precious and forever relevant, beautiful hymns. This hymn especially speaks to me in verse 3.

That verse reminds me that God longs to give the same lasting grace, love, forgiveness and redemption I received through Christ to ALL His people. I am but one of His tools to do that.

I was just minding my own business, doing my work, when the Holy Spirit just impressed on me that "minding my own business" signifies separation from God. So much more joyful to mind His business!! And then with great joy, the spirit led me to this song. Oh the quantity of Jesus' blood. Oh the infinite quality. There is enough for every sin, were there 3 trillion people on this earth! I was so thoroughly washed, so cleansed, so purified, ready for God's business! What a song. What a blood. What a redemption. You can't ever exhaust it. I think the most powerful part of the experience to me was to realize this is a CONTINUOUSLY FLOWING fountain, constantly forgiving, constantly cleansing, constantly reconciling.

Shortly after waking up, I was thinking of songs we once heard during on Easter/Resurrection Sunday. Several songs came to my mind but this one stayed on my mind. I walked to the kitchen and began singing this song and then got on the computer to find the lyrics. As I sang each verse I felt the Spirit of God. Thank God for hymns!

Woke up humming this hymn. It's so appropriate for what's happening in the world today.

My sister died this week in 2002. I was going to sing another song but soundtrack didn't work. But I had There is a fountain practiced for Good Friday and ended up singing it for her funeral accapella. It was the perfect song and I believe God planned it that way. Now 18 years later I will be singing it for communion. I hope I don't get chocked up on the last verse Like I did for my sister's funeral! The message of this song is powerful. I count it a priveledge to be able to sing it again in the same way! Darlene I hope you can here me singing it. I miss you so much. But , I know I will see you again!

This hymn came welling up in my spirit as I stood over a loved one who lay dying after having lived a sinful lifestyle. The Holy Spirit gave me an assurance that this soul had made peace with God and was in a good place to go on into eternity. the hymn continued on as this loved one breathed his last and continues to give me comfort whenever I sing it.
