1
Fight the good fight with all thy might!
Christ is thy strength, and Christ thy right;
Lay hold on life, and it shall be
Thy joy and crown eternally.
Christ is thy strength, and Christ thy right;
Lay hold on life, and it shall be
Thy joy and crown eternally.
2
Run the straight race through God’s good grace,
Lift up thine eyes, and seek His face;
Life with its way before us lies,
Christ is the path, and Christ the prize.
Lift up thine eyes, and seek His face;
Life with its way before us lies,
Christ is the path, and Christ the prize.
3
Cast care aside, lean on thy Guide;
His boundless mercy will provide;
Trust, and thy trusting soul shall prove
Christ is its life, and Christ its love.
His boundless mercy will provide;
Trust, and thy trusting soul shall prove
Christ is its life, and Christ its love.
4
Faint not nor fear, His arms are near,
He changeth not, and thou art dear;
Only believe, and thou shalt see
That Christ is all in all to thee.
He changeth not, and thou art dear;
Only believe, and thou shalt see
That Christ is all in all to thee.

I was reading Joshua 18 how God had given the land to the Israelites but they hadn't taken possession of it, and was struck by how much God has given us ( status of beloved children, access to his presence in joy, belonging, security, peace, power to build his kingdom in the strength of the holy spirit) and how much of this I still don't claim. I remembered this hymn although I haven't sung it in years and was blessed as these truths settled deeper into my soul. God has given us so much, and by trusting in Christ who has won the victory we can enjoy such blessings today.

Living in a country with no family near can be very distressing . I sing 🎤🎶🎵 these songs to myself before bedtime. I know the love of God is real and these hymns uplift us. May whoever is feeling lonely at this point in time, feel His divine presence. Ameeeen‼️

Thank you so much for sharing this hymn.
Our son is a Frontline Medical professional... the Covid-19 situation is tasking and he resides in another country ( where he doesn't have family support).
I just shared this hymn with him, to lift his spirit up and 'fire' his will to continue in his duties. God's blessings on you!

I have not sung this hymn in years and reading it again it was such a blessing. After a difficult year dominated by Covid it refocussed my mind on eternal truths.

I love this hymn. It reminds me that I am fighter and that I shouldn't give up. I always get so much strength from this, Fighting a good fight.

I was reading the story of Jarius daughter being raised to life by Jesus and the phase "only believe " sparked the song in my heart. Tomorrow marks the 5th anniversary of my marriage and I am grateful to God who has showed us mercy and grace.

I just celebrated a birthday last weekend. I am in my 60s and even though, I am active and still working, I am constantly reminded of my mortality by bodily pains and aches. This morning, I woke up with back pains and I started singing ‘Fight a Good Fight’ ; I find a lot of comfort from the song.
I agree with Elizabeth (Known As Grace) Seymour, Rustington, West ussex, United Kingdom:
‘This is a Christ-exalting hymn as it speaks of Him being our strength, our path, our prize, our life, our love, and our right! ’
