The Church’s one foundation
Is Jesus Christ her Lord;
She is His new creation
By water and the Word:
From heav’n He came and sought her
To be His holy Bride;
With His own blood He bought her,
And for her life He died.
Is Jesus Christ her Lord;
She is His new creation
By water and the Word:
From heav’n He came and sought her
To be His holy Bride;
With His own blood He bought her,
And for her life He died.

Elect from every nation,
Yet one o’er all the earth,
Her charter of salvation,
One Lord, one faith, one birth;
One holy Name she blesses,
Partakes one holy food,
And to one hope she presses,
With every grace endued.
Yet one o’er all the earth,
Her charter of salvation,
One Lord, one faith, one birth;
One holy Name she blesses,
Partakes one holy food,
And to one hope she presses,
With every grace endued.

’Mid toil and tribulation,
And tumult of her war,
She waits the consummation
Of peace for evermore;
Till, with the vision glorious,
Her longing eyes are blest,
And the great Church victorious
Shall be the Church at rest.
And tumult of her war,
She waits the consummation
Of peace for evermore;
Till, with the vision glorious,
Her longing eyes are blest,
And the great Church victorious
Shall be the Church at rest.

Yet she on earth hath union
With God the Three in One,
And mystic sweet communion
With those whose rest is won:
O happy ones and holy!
Lord, give us grace that we,
Like them, the meek and lowly,
In love may dwell with Thee.
With God the Three in One,
And mystic sweet communion
With those whose rest is won:
O happy ones and holy!
Lord, give us grace that we,
Like them, the meek and lowly,
In love may dwell with Thee.

From heaven he came and sought her to be his holy bride; with his own blood he bought her and for her life he died. - I find this among the greatest lines of Godly romance. What love for one's beloved that any man can aspire for!

It's a hymn I'm singing during my devotions now. Thank you!

I am preaching on 1 Cor. 6:12-20 this morning about being united to Jesus Christ as part of His body, His Holy bride. This hymn came into my mind especially the line “from heaven he came and sought her to be his holy bride”. What a beautiful truth to remember as we seek to please Him, walk worthy, bear fruit in this dark world.

I woke up this morning with this song in my Spirit and had to look it up. It is wonderful to learn that the same is true for brothers and sisters in Christ all over the world. Our faith is built on the strong and sure foundation - Jesus Christ our Lord. May God sustain us, so we may never stray from Christ, no matter what inventions the world will come up with.

I waked from sleep with the Song. That pushed me to search for the lyrics online. Through my quest, I have now discovered what inspired the writer. Please, let's live holy since Jesus is coming sooner than we think. God will keep upholding us to the end. God keeps His Church holy.

My favorite hymn, I love this song I suggested this song to a former member of mines in Edenton North Carolina as their Church struggles for repairs. Please keep Kadesh A. M. E Zion Church in your prayers.

I too was praying for the Church thus morning and the phrase, " the church victorious will be the Church at rest". Came into mt mind. I too looked up the lyrics and praise God for His Church, His amazing power and grace. Wake up O sleeper and let the Light shine! Glory to God.

Our Church has embarked on 14 days of prayer and fasting with the first session at 5 a. m. to 6 a. m. Our topic today is Revival-individual, family, Church, nation, and the world. After this morning's session ended, I had my morning devotion and the main Scripture was: Mat 16:17 — Mat 16:18
"17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it."
As I read the devotion for today, this hymn flooded my spirit. A hymn that I have not heard or sang for many years. I had to look up the lyrics to remind myself of the verses, and as I sang, I gave glory and thanks to God. Despite the turmoil in the world, the Church remains truimphant. The Bride of Christ will prevail midst toils and tribulations. Hallelujah to the King of kings, Our Saviour, Jesus Christ. My prayer and desire is that those who have not accepted Him as their Lord and Saviour will be converted and become a part of the Bride of Christ as we eagerly await the coming of the Bridegroom-Jesus Christ. Amen. God bless.

Hallelujah!!! This song woke me up this morning with tears in my eyes. God is taking to his church, his bride. We will soon be with the bridegroom. Keep strong in Jesus.
