How sweet the Name of Jesus sounds
  In a believer’s ear!
It soothes his sorrow, heals his wounds,
  And drives away his fear,
  And drives away his fear,
  And drives away his fear,
It soothes his sorrow, heals his wounds,
  And drives away his fear.
2
It makes the wounded spirit whole,
  And calms the troubled breast;
’Tis manna to the hungry soul,
  And to the weary rest,
  And to the weary rest,
  And to the weary rest,
’Tis manna to the hungry soul,
  And to the weary rest.

Dear Name! the Rock on which we build;
  Our shield and hiding-place;
Our never-failing treasury, filled
  With boundless stores of grace,
  With boundless stores of grace,
  With boundless stores of grace,
Our never-failing treasury, filled
  With boundless stores of grace.
4
Jesus, our Savior, Shepherd, Friend,
  Our Prophet, Priest, and King;
Our Lord, our Life, our Way, our End,
  Accept the praise we bring,
  Accept the praise we bring,
  Accept the praise we bring,
Our Lord, our Life, our Way, our End,
  Accept the praise we bring.
5
Weak is the effort of our heart,
  And cold our warmest thought;
But when we see Thee as Thou art,
  We’ll praise Thee as we ought,
  We’ll praise Thee as we ought,
  We’ll praise Thee as we ought,
But when we see Thee as Thou art,
  We’ll praise Thee as we ought.
6
Till then we would Thy love proclaim
  With every fleeting breath;
And triumph in that blessed Name
  Which quells the pow’r of death,
  Which quells the pow’r of death,
  Which quells the pow’r of death,
And triumph in that blessed Name
  Which quells the pow’r of death.

It's true!

It makes the wounded spirit whole

And calms the troubled breast

Tis manna to the hungry soul

And to the weary rest

I just woke up with the thought of my secondary school days in the early 80s during which we sang hymns in our school chapel every morning. I therefore renewed my memory with this hymn and other popular hymns as. (1) New every morning is thy love. (2) Holy Holy Holy Lord God Almighty. (3) Nearer my God to thee, nearer to thee. Oh such a good old days.

Oh Just now I read this words "Be of good cheer. Every groan of your wounded heart, your every sigh, and cry, and prayer--falls as distinctly on Jesus' ear as if you stood beside His throne; or, nearer still, lay with John on His bosom, and felt the beating of His heart against your own.

How full of encouragement and comfort is this to those, like us, who have sins to confess, sorrows to tell Him, and many a heavy care to cast upon His sympathy and kindness." (Thomas Guthrie, 1803-1873) Grace Gems and this song is what has come to my heart. How sweet the name of Sounds in my ear this morning. Glory to God.

Blessed be the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. This song just drop in my heart and as a search for the lyrics and started singing, tears flow from my eyes. There's something about these old fashioned songs. That is the food to the soul and the spirit. You'll never be the same. Praise God forever Amen.
