Turn your eyes upon Jesus

1
O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
  In the light of His glory and grace.
2
Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
O’er us sin no more hath dominion
For more than conqu’rors we are!
3
His Word shall not fail you, He promised;
Believe Him and all will be well;
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!

What happened to the last verse? It starts"From death into life everlasting, he leads..." I can't remember the whole thing.

This is one of the songs that I learnt back in college. The school's church, a Seventh Day Adventists Church, would intentionally use hymns for worship, but amongst all, this particular hymn and others ministered deep.

Turning our gaze to the Author and Finisher of our faith, our life, shouldn't only be an option, rather a lifestyle.

I have heard different versions of this song, but I always come back to the solid, foundational Gospel of the original words. The words speak deeply into my heart. I am a reassured to not throw in the towel, keep my confession that Jesus Christ is the son of God, and died for my, and all humanity's, sin.

In our worship services, fellowship, Prayer Line, Bible Study or any gathering in our Church, this song will be sung before prayers are heard. It allows the believer to shut everything and everyone out and focus only on the Lord and Savior. Scripture tells us to Worship in Spirit and in Truth, and this song in essence brings one closer to the heart of God by allowing the things of earth to grow strangely dim. The focus stays on God. This is a classic example of a song which takes us closer to God.

Praises be to God, in whom we find comfort and understanding ... even as the world unravels before us. Knock, and He will answer.

This was in my devotions from David Jeremiah today. The whole chorus came flooding into my memory. The practice of turning to the Lord gives peace in the storms.
