You have longed for sweet peace, and for faith to increase

E448
1
You have longed for sweet peace, and for faith to increase,
  And have earnestly, fervently prayed;
But you cannot have rest, or be perfectly blest,
  Until all on the altar is laid.

Is your all on the altar of sacrifice laid?
  Your heart, does the Spirit control?
You can only be blest and have peace and sweet rest,
    As you yield Him your body and soul.
2
Would you walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
  And have peace and contentment alway;
You must do His sweet will to be free from all ill;
  On the altar your all you must lay.
3
Oh, we never can know what the Lord will bestow
  Of the blessings for which we have prayed,
Till our body and soul He doth fully control,
  And our all on the altar is laid.
4
Who can tell all the love He will send from above!
  Oh, how happy our heart will be made!
Oh, what fellowship sweet we shall share at His feet,
  When our all on the altar is laid!

If you're going through something and you don't understand why and you know you heard God speaking to concerning your situation go to the part of this song that asks you the question. Is your all on the alter of sacrifice laid? Your heart, does the spirit control?

I was talking to God because I wanted to know why He hadn't move in certain areas I've prayed and this song fell in my spirit.

Because of another website, hymnsradio.com, this song was made known to me. It is a classic hymn, but I wasn't acquainted with it before. I am so glad that this site, hymnal.net, has so many beloved hymns from our history and new ones for us to enjoy. Personally, my spirit is enlivened and refreshed as I listen, and even more important, as the breath of the words and melody is blowing on me, my spirit is strengthened within by God Himself! What a help to our Christian life! Hallelujah!

Thank You, dear Lord, we laid them all at Your feet for the peace that is promised to us, l pray to all You promised that rest. And Sunday, as we come together in all the churches around the world as we come in let us all laid before You on the altar: our tears, our pain, and our sorrow. l pray for those who are trying to find the way altered.

Amen! Good stuff. Heard about this one in Kenneth Hagin's book: following God's plan for your life.
