Take my life, and let it be

1
Take my life, and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.
2
Take my hands, and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love;
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee,
Swift and beautiful for Thee.
3
Take my voice, and let me sing
Always, only, for my King;
Take my lips, and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee,
Filled with messages from Thee.
4
Take my silver and my gold;
Not a mite would I withhold;
Take my intellect, and use
Every power as Thou shalt choose,
Every power as Thou shalt choose.
5
Take my will, and make it Thine;
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart; it is Thine own;
It shall be Thy royal throne,
It shall be Thy royal throne.
6
Take my love; my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure-store.
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee,
Ever, only, all for Thee.

We are so blessed to know this song through the book from Pst. Rick Warren on page 214 Better Together (what on earth are we here for? ): Take My Life and Let It Be. This is the first time I read and heard this hymn. It is such a blessing to receive this after finishing reading the book and pray it together in our Bible Study group at our foundation. Of course I have it translated into Bahas Indonesia so that we all understand. Thank you. God bless you in all your activities, whereever you are.

This is the most famous hymn written by Frances Havergal. She was a gifted poet and hymnist. She lived a life plagued by ill health and only lived to 42 years old. This hymn always brings me to the Lord and a humble restating of my consecration. I realize that He doesn’t want my things but my heart. “Take myself and I will be, ever only all for thee”. If I “let Him” He will take my heart little by little. Lord I want a deeper experience of you so I give you more of my heart. I believe Consecration is incremental based in my experience.

I am truly amazed as I read the comments from fellow believers around the world who share a common experience of the Holy Spirit and a desire to bring glory to God in our thoughts, words, and actions. From this small town in Mississippi, I join “all yall” in saying, "Praise the Lord!"

Praise the Lord! Our life is by faith, our living is to the Lord, and our service is by trusting in Him; He may allow us to suffer lack, but He will never leave us or forsake us. Hallelujah 😀

As a new year has come, this song reminds me to consecrate my heart, may the Lord deliver us from divided loyalty and idolatry. We cannot give our life until we have given our hearts to God. We must check our spiritual heart health to make sure nothing is still competing for that number one spot in our lives. Then we can serve God wholeheartedly and truly present our life, body, time, treasure and everything for his use. This song screams this reminder in every verse. Thank you Jesus.

What wonderful song ❤️

Revised version:

1. Take my life, and let it be

Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;

Take my moments and my days,

Let them flow in ceaseless praise.

Chorus:

For me, You were mocked and crucified;

For me, willingly You bled and died.

Lord, my life and love I willingly outpour

And will serve You ever more.

2. Take my hands and feet, I pray,

For Thy work, to run Thy way.

Take my lips that I may sound

Word of truth to those around.

3. Take my silver and my gold;

Not a mite would I withhold;

Take my intellect, and use

Every power as Thou shalt choose.

4. Make my heart and will Thine own;

They belong to Thee alone.

Take my love; my Lord, I pour

At Thy feet its treasure-store.

5. Take me, Lord, till I've become

Ever joined to Thee as one.

Take myself, and I will be

Ever, only, all for Thee.
