I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice

1
I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
  And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith,
  And be closer drawn to Thee.
  Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
  To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
    To Thy precious, bleeding side.
2
Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
  By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
  And my will be lost in Thine.
3
O the pure delight of a single hour
  That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God,
  I commune as friend with friend!
4
There are depths of love that I yet may know
  Ere Thee face to face I see;
There are heights of joy that I yet may reach
  Ere I rest in peace with Thee.

I have been feelling low all day. A lot of things happening around me have not been encouraging. I found this site and this hymn ministered to me as it always has in time past. Now I am rededicating myself to live in HIS presence come what may.

How is sweet is the voice telling us about the love of God towards us! I love to hear this voice that daily draws me nearer unto the Lord. Thank You for Your love, oh Lord!

There is, like the chorus in this song, a prayer in Song of Songs, "Draw me..." How wonderful Christ can be in our lives, but our feeling is that we are still distant from Him. This distance is not because of sin, or something evil, but just the longing to pursue Him, to know Him further. May we treasure our longings for Him! "No one can come to Him, unless the Father draws him."

Everyday in my daily living I am fighting the devil, consciously and sometimes subconsciously. I find joy in this hymn in that it encourages us to go on not just in denying the devil, but replacing the self in me with the Lord. I always pray that I am drawn closer and closer to the Lord and I do so I will be moved further and further away from the devil. Praise the Lord for these hymns, we should all strive to deny the devil and be drawn closer and closer towards our blessed Lord. Amen.
