My hope is built on nothing less

1
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
  All other ground is sinking sand.
2
When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
3
His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.
4
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
In Him, my righteousness, alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

Every other grounds like academic qualifications, human and foreign connections, family background, bank account balance, etc are all sinking sand. Jesus, and Him only is the solid rock to stand without fear of drowning or sinking. I believe!

Christ indeed is the only ROCK on which we can firmly stand. I sang this hymn in my dream and it has ever since become my favorite.

Could you please tell me the story behind it?

What a great reminder to me today, as I battle through life. My faith is strengthened and I'm able to forge ahead, knowing that Jesus is my SOLID foundation. Oh God, thank You for Jesus! Because of His obedience unto death and His grace that has enabled me to hear about Him and believe in Him, I have the Holy Spirit indwelling me. What an awesome presence! I can do all things through Christ, which strengthens me! AMEN!!

The hymn touches my heart with the assurance that no matter what the circumstances are "GOD IS OUR HOPE". There is hope and strength (divine grace from GOD) in every situation that comes in our way and JESUS CHRIST the only Son of the MOST HIGH SUPREME BEING (THE ALMIGHTY GOD) is the hope. Am rest assured. Victory has been mine in JESUS name.

This is a faithful song throughout the years for me, because when the storms of life comes it strengthens me. On Christ the solid rock I stand, all the other ground is sinking sand. Be encouraged. God is in control. Amen!

Having a complete reliance, dependence and trust on the only Solid Rock of Ages, Jesus Christ has proved over and over again that when Lord Jesus Christ is in total control, absolutely nothing is out of control for He is the Rock of my salvation, the Horn of my salvation and my only Hope and stay indeed. What a great Shepherd and Bishop of my soul is my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

The "true story" behind this hymn is something like this: Mr. Mote happened to have begun composing this hymn, just going about his normal day. Soon afterward, that very week, a friend asked Mr. Mote to pay a visit to the friend's wife, who was ailing. His friend requested that they sing a hymn, read scripture, and pray together. But his friend could not find his hymnal. Mr. Mote said that he happened to have some verses written down on some paper in his pocket. After that visit, Mr. Mote decided to finish composing the hymn.

When seeing how the hymn blessed his friend, and the wife in her final hours, Mote decided to send a copy to a magazine publication, but did not sign his submission. In the following few years, there was a bit of confusion over who might be credited with having composed the lyrics. Eventually, after seeing his hymn in another publication, Mr. Mote wrote to The Gospel Herald (requesting they publish "this brief" so that it might "...be a vindication of truthfulness in my connection with the Church of God", and was thereafter credited with its composition.
