1
I cannot breathe enough of Thee,
O gentle breeze of love;
More fragrant than the myrtle tree
The Henna-flower* is to me,
The Balm of Heaven above.
O gentle breeze of love;
More fragrant than the myrtle tree
The Henna-flower* is to me,
The Balm of Heaven above.
2
I cannot gaze enough on Thee,
Thou Fairest of the Fair;
My heart is filled with ecstasy,
As in Thy face of radiancy
I see such beauty there.
Thou Fairest of the Fair;
My heart is filled with ecstasy,
As in Thy face of radiancy
I see such beauty there.
3
I cannot yield enough to Thee,
My Savior, Master, Friend;
I do not wish to go out free,
But ever, always, willingly,
To serve Thee to the end.
My Savior, Master, Friend;
I do not wish to go out free,
But ever, always, willingly,
To serve Thee to the end.
4
I cannot sing enough of Thee,
The sweetest name on earth;
A note so full of melody
Comes from my heart so joyously,
And fills my soul with mirth.
The sweetest name on earth;
A note so full of melody
Comes from my heart so joyously,
And fills my soul with mirth.
5
I cannot speak enough of Thee,
I have so much to tell;
Thy heart it beats so tenderly
As Thou dost draw me close to Thee,
And whisper, “All is well.”
I have so much to tell;
Thy heart it beats so tenderly
As Thou dost draw me close to Thee,
And whisper, “All is well.”

This song is so intimate it is hard to share or say anything about it. My first thought it was something the Apostle John would write. He was such a lover of Jesus. This hymn is poetry at its best. This morning I just want to breathe Him in as the gentle breeze of love. He is my very breath. Even if I find myself in a hard place, I would yield to this love. I do not wish to go out free. I want to stay willing and serve in this place He has put me.

William Spencer Walton was born in London, England, on January 15, 1850, to Charles and Martha Walton. He enjoyed a pleasant childhood, despite being physically frail. However, his security was shattered at age 15 by the early death of his father.
From his salvation at age 22, Walton immersed himself in the Word of God, and prayed for the gift of evangelism. He served the Lord in business and evening evangelism until 1882, at which time he joined a mission society and labored in the British Isles until he was called to South Africa. During his first trip in 1888, hundreds were led to Christ. Walton then returned to England to establish the Cape General Mission in 1889.
While in England, he married Kathleen Mary Dixon, and they traveled to South Africa to serve together. Sadly, after only 10 months together, Kathleen died soon after their son was born. William continued to labor in South Africa, learning deeper trust in his indwelling Lord.
In 1893, William married Lina Gibson, and they served the Lord in South Africa through intense personal loss, war, famine, and plagues. In 1894, the Cape General Mission, merged with another mission to become the South Africa general mission, for the purpose of evangelizing and shepherding the indigenous and Europeans alike. Walter became its first director.
In 1904, the Waltons, with their three children, were sent to minister in North America and Britain for the mission. William continued serving and enjoying Christ as his true supply until his death on August 26, 1906, at the age of 56.
