What a Friend we have in Jesus

1
What a Friend we have in Jesus,
  All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
  Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
  O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
  Everything to God in prayer!
2
Have we trials and temptations?
  Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
  Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
  Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
  Take it to the Lord in prayer.
3
Are we weak and heavy-laden,
  Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
  Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
  Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
  Thou wilt find a solace there.

I do not believe in the power of prayer, but rather my God who answers prayer said according to His will (1 John 5). Also, born again again Christians are not just friends of God but also brothers and sisters of the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8). To be born again we have to recognise, by the Holy Spirit showing us, that we are sinners who need to be saved. On being shown our sinfulness, we must believe that The Lord Jesus bore our sin on the cross, died for us, and rose again from the dead ( as He, as God, did not sin Himself). If we repent and believe the gospel, we receive the Holy Spirit as we become a child of God and are thus born again ( John3 verse 3).

Also, burdens are not lifted by taking everything to God in prayer but only by God himself as we cast all our care upon the Lord (2 Peter 5 verse 8).

Only born again Christians have the spiritual ability to cast all their care upon the Lord, and each New Testament epistle ( letter) was written to born again Christians and they apply only to them.

The only prayer God hears from someone not born again is the prayer of repentance and faith in the gospel (Luke - 'God, be merciful to me a sinner') ..... this man went down justified rather than the self righteous man.

If we feel we are good enough to go to heaven, then we will not go to heaven, for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God ( Romans 3 verse 23).

Such a lovely Friend indeed! My only hope in time of trouble. In His arms He takes and shields me indeed I found solace there.

Thanks be to God, when there is no one nor friend that understands what I'm passing through and praying all times

I was inspired to activate Jesus as my friend and we started relating a friend, today's March 22nd 2018

The hymn WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS became the anchor.

This song has always been inspiring since I first heard it. Indeed, what a friend we have in Jesus. Sitting by the side of our Heavenly Father. What a privilege!

We used to sing this song in school, funny how it sticks with you in later life when the words come alive, didn't know it was such a gem.

This song lifts up my soul and comforts me. It was one of the favorite songs of my late Mum who passed away on 16/02/18. She had always requested us to play this song to celebrate her memorial. While I miss my Mum, I know she is happy and joyful with our dear Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
