1
Amazing grace! how sweet the sound,
  That saved a wretch; like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
  Was blind, but now I see.
2
’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
  And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
  The hour I first believed!
3
The Lord hath promised good to me,
  His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be
  As long as life endures.
4
When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
  Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
  Than when we first begun.

A beautiful song, I love it even more when played on the bagpipe. A single piper does the first refrain then the whole massed pipers (Black Watch and Highlanders) join. I play it as part of my prep to officiate a football game.

My Dad loved this song. It was his favorite. I remember him telling me the story of the Atlantic slave trader/ priest/ hymn writer, writing this song upon converting his life to Jesus during a bad storm at sea. I had it played at his funeral when he passed on August 20th 2019.

The lyrics of "Amazing Grace" are powerful and are a great witness and tremendous testimony. I've put the lyrics to the tune of "Jimmy Crack Corn" using a calypso rhythm and the whole song takes on this joyful, optimistic, and celebratory feel. I love the original melody, but give this a try and I think you'll sing it with celebration and a holy smile on your face. Now, don't knock it til you try it. Happy Singing!

I accepted Christ in 1979 at Indiana University, Bloomington, IN. My roomate would play "Amazing Grace" on his guitar in a key we could all sing, I learned to worship through by singing Amazing Grace. It is my favorite song. I recommend the book about JN, John Newton, from Disgrace to Amazing Grace, J Aitken.

I am only here due to God's Amazing Grace. I am humbly grateful. He is my Savior through His suffering, Jesuffering, death, burial, resurrection and then ascension into heaven where he interceded for us daily and awaits God's call to go get His children which I am grateful to be one of.

beautiful spiritual song, especially through these hard times. If you're reading this and are going through a hard times im sending my love and thoughts to you 💛

We are familiar with the hymn "Amazing Grace." Although this is a good hymn, it does not speak of the Triune God as our portion for our enjoyment. When this hymn was written, the experiential knowledge of God among the Lord's people had not come to this point. Even as recent as fifty years ago, Christians did not have the understanding of grace as the Triune God experienced and enjoyed by us. But standing on the shoulders of those who have gone before us, we have come to know that grace is far more than merely unmerited favor. Grace is the Triune God—the Father, the Son, and the Spirit—processed for our experience and enjoyment.
