Joys are flowing like a river,
Since the Comforter has come;
He abides with us forever,
Makes the trusting heart His home.
Since the Comforter has come;
He abides with us forever,
Makes the trusting heart His home.
Blessed quietness, holy quietness—
What assurance in my soul!
On the stormy sea He speaks peace to me.
How the billows cease to roll!
What assurance in my soul!
On the stormy sea He speaks peace to me.
How the billows cease to roll!

Bringing life and health and gladness
All around, this heavenly Guest
Banished unbelief and sadness,
Changed our weariness to rest.
All around, this heavenly Guest
Banished unbelief and sadness,
Changed our weariness to rest.

Like the rain that falls from heaven,
Like the sunlight from the sky,
So the Holy Ghost is given,
Coming to us from on high.
Like the sunlight from the sky,
So the Holy Ghost is given,
Coming to us from on high.

See a fruitful field is growing
Blessed fruits of righteousness,
And the streams of life are flowing
In the lonely wilderness.
Blessed fruits of righteousness,
And the streams of life are flowing
In the lonely wilderness.

What a wonderful salvation
Where we always see His face!
What a perfect habitation!
What a quiet resting place!
Where we always see His face!
What a perfect habitation!
What a quiet resting place!

I thought it was very beautiful I am on this piece in my 8th grade grammer and I thought it was magnificent!

Studying the book of Acts currently and couldn't resist the conclusion of this hymn writer about how blessed it is, how sweet and peaceful to have the rushing move of the Spirit in someone's life even in the midst of the story seas. That phrase most especially is what I think many Christians do not understand. I pray that I would.

Such sweetness to the words and music. Can't help but love it.

This is a wonderful song that shows that the Lord can be our Comforter if we let Him make home in our hearts.

How I adore hymns with nature metaphors! This is so pretty and peaceful. I again thank you for the music as I seek to learn this hymn this month.

This song is melodious and its beautiful rhymes and unique composition make me like it. It is to me a prohetic song which I sing when things get disquiet and rough. There is blessed quietness when the Spirit of God takes over, when we go into the presence of God and leave our troubles behind us. His words are peaceful.
