I too have always loved this song. Yes the correct words are beautiful in situation in the KJV however the phrase beautiful in elevation is just another translation from the ESV version. Both are correct in meaning however the original writing was situation.

I am in a prayer meeting and the lady who wanted to give us exaltation quoted psalm 48 verses 1-8 and I found that verse 1 and 2 are the lyrics of the song I always loved singing then I decided to get the correct lyrics.
