This hymn touches my spirit body and soul each time I sing it as I worship alone at night or early morning. To imagine that Jesus loved my soul as to die for my salvation is something that truly touches my heart!!
I always feel the closeness of God and His dear son to me as I sing this song in tears during my praise and worship alone and often get lost in Him!!

While I love the Welsh tune "Aberystwyth" I do find the English tune "Hollingside" which appears in older British hymn books more suited to expressing that confident trust in Christ which the words express.

I love this hymn (and the newer tune as sung by Chris Eaton). It's words are so rich, and the lines, "Vile and full of sin I am, Thou art full of truth and grace" always stand out to me. We can be so honest about ourselves because of the grace of God shown in Christ.
