What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He'll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He'll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.

"Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share"

My ringing tone now and always, it keeps reminding me that the only true friend I have is Jesus and in Him alone I can put my trust.

This hymn is not just a partner in time of distress but also a life support when things go sour.
I was really down but through this hymn am stronger, better and consoled in the fact that Jesus shears my problems too...

Comforting words in the song. The song really made my day. Oh what peace we often forfeit oh what needless pain we bear all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer. Thank You Jesus.

These words are truly comforting and soothing, Jesus is our burden bearer, a lifter of sorrows, pain and all form of weakness.

I wanna bless God for the life of the writer of this lifting song. As each day passes by I always remember this song and sing it in my heart and there is always inner joy in me that makes me smile to Jesus Christ. I'm always strengthened, lifted, excited, and blessed beyond measure by this song. This is my song of victory.

What a song, it gives me strength, hope, courage and fulfillment of joy during my tribulations. Thank You Lord Jesus Christ.
Three weeks ago my first born son was killed on his way back to his brother’s house. Never has grief, so deep, caused me to be unable to function. Not only my own, but the grief of my three remaining sons & my grandchildren has shattered my life & devastated the entire family. I cry through the night & can’t sleep. I cry when a kind word is spoken to me, I am inconsolable. I call upon Jesus for help, yet I cannot deal with this crippling loss.
Then today a young friend told me the story of how What a Friend We have in Jesus came into being. I realise Jesus is the only One who can help me so I will turn to the words of this hymn and also prayer He will make me to lie down in green pastures & lead me beside still waters and, in all the experiences of my 70 years will indeed be my closest & dearest Friend.
