1
When upon life's billows you are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your blessings, see what God hath done;
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
2
Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly,
And you will be singing as the days go by.
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your blessings, see what God hath done;
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
3
When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold.
Count your many blessings, money cannot buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your Lord on high.
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your blessings, see what God hath done;
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
4
So amid the conflict, whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey's end.
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your blessings, see what God hath done;
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Last night, I went to bed with so great a burden in my heart and numberless complaints. But throughout the hours I slept, the Lord repeatedly said to me in still, clear accent: "David, count your blessings and name them one by one. It'd amaze you what great deeds I've done." Then I knew God was whispering His sweet peace to my soul. I woke up, opened this page immediately and sang through the lines rapturously. Believe me, all the cares and anxieties have evaporated. Hallelujah!

This song is a lifter of burden. It's indeed a miracle in itself. I've been blessed and still is.

We just sang this hymn in church now, awesome GOD. RCCG hossana model parish, delta 11
This song is so wonderful especial stanza 3 it's serves as a reminder of all the Lord has done, at times when we are faced with challenges we suddenly forget All His goodness even those that money cannot buy, we even think that God loves others more than us. Glory to His name for this reminder.
