1
When upon life's billows you are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your blessings, see what God hath done;
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
2
Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly,
And you will be singing as the days go by.
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your blessings, see what God hath done;
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
3
When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold.
Count your many blessings, money cannot buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your Lord on high.
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your blessings, see what God hath done;
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
4
So amid the conflict, whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey's end.
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your blessings, see what God hath done;
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Not always do one come across such a lovely hymn. This is a big reminder to us from God especially when we fret. May God's name ever be held holy.

Remember when? I do remember some 65 years ago, as a young boy sitting alone in calm pleasant surroundings, listening and looking up on a high whilte blank wall, gazing a long time upon a lone large beautiful picture of a man called Jesus.
I felt in my body that He put His love on m . He said I will came and live with you. "Do not be discouraged, I am God over all, I will help you."
Though the years the message and comfort this tune has give me has been an anchor and the promise that Jesus Christ lives. That He keeps His promises. He says, "I tell you the truth."

Going through the lyrics of this song, my mind raced, to the scripture in Psalm 103:3-5 , and I couldn't but started recounting, and appreciating the numerous benefits, I have enjoyed from Him. The primary and major blessing; forgiving, and cleansing my iniquities, cost him, His only begotten son. To forget that, and to disregard it, will mean grieving Him. Oh God! I receive grace, not to forget.

"The great singer of psalms in the Bible was David. And his advice was to 'sing praises unto the Lord.' It's good advice, too - especially when we've got so much to be thankful for, so much to sing about. 'Count your blessings, name them one by one.' We know the Source of all these blessings we receive; we know where they come from. So in this wonderful happy hymn we count these blessings, and give thanks." - Tennessee Ernie Ford (1919-91)
