The old rugged cross

1
On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
  The emblem of suff'ring and shame,
And I love that old cross where the Dearest and Best
  For a world of lost sinners was slain.

So I'll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
  And exchange it some day for a crown.
2
Oh, that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
  Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above,
  To bear it to dark Calvary.
3
In the old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
  A wondrous beauty I see;
For 'twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
  To pardon and sanctify me.

My favorite Hymn of all times. My grand dad loved it , and it was the only song on his lips while we tilled the soil.

It says it all about Jesus, and I almost play it every morning to start my day. This way I remember the Lord throughout my day.

Glory to God in the highest! Praise to The One who humbled himself as a baby in a manger, then as a sinless lamb, gave himself to be crucified for our sin. For my sin. Oh Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God. You demonstrate this love and mercy for me daily.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

This wonderful song was my grandmas favorite hymn. We sang it at her graveside service. It was also one of my daddy's favorites. I sang it at his service after the 21 gun salute.

Oh what a song, glorious in it's hearing, beautiful in it's singing, it's lyrics, heavenly.. Thank you Father for this great sacrifice of your son dying for my sin. I am lifted... here is the verse 4.. amazing

4. To the old rugged cross I will ever

be true,

It shame and reproach gladly bear;

Then He'll call me someday to my

Home far away,

Where His glory forever I'll share

Hallelujah!
