I recall this as regularly sung during my childhood in the 40s and 50s. When I heard the melody played on Haven Today, all of the words came back to me. I will sing it at our next small pastor's prayer gathering and on the telephone service where I am serving as an interim pastor.

What a comfort it is to know that in Jesus we are safe forever more. This hymn just gives strength and encouragement in times of troubles.

My older two daughters sang this hymn at my 18 year old son’s funeral a few days ago. His unexpected death was one of the biggest trials I have had. When they sang this song 150 people broke down sobbing. God used it to bring such healing, especially in all the young people who were there. He is our refuge, a ever present help in time of need!
