I'm pressing on the upward way

1
I'm pressing on the upward way,
New heights I'm gaining every day;
Still praying as I onward bound,
"Lord, plant my feet on higher ground."
  Lord, lift me up, and let me stand
By faith on Canaan's tableland;
A higher plane than I have found,
  Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
2
My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where these abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.
3
I want to live above the world,
Though Satan's darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.
4
I want to scale the utmost height
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I'll pray till rest I've found,
"Lord, lead me on to higher ground."

This hymn was my wedding procession song and any time the song is sang it make me remember my covenant with my wife. Even when I am in bad mode it has the power to change my emission.

I need not to be told that everyday that God allows me to be alive is another opportunity for me to continue pressing on, the upward way...because as I press on, new height I gain, while praying as I onward bound, I trust that God will plant my feet on higher ground. This song is inspiring and it makes me come to terms with the fact that, it is God and Him alone will see me through in all me undertaking. I can't sing this less because my heart has no desire to continue to stay in this world where doubts arise and fears dismay; though there are those who may want dwell where these abound, but my prayer, my aim is the higher ground...Lord, in Your mercy, lead me on to higher ground. Amen.

This hymn blesses my soul. It's a prayer worded so well that when I sing it I feel the desire of my heart has been communicated to God, my Father in Heaven. I really feel blessed. Amen.

I can't stop playing this hymn over and over again, the lyrics, the tune and the piano background, it is all very uplifting when I feel down. I appreciate these terms: the upward way, new heights, Canaan's tableland (wow! a higher plane than I have ever found).

It's early in the morning I just found the song after a search. I sang the song last night in a dream for hours though I don't know the lyrics. At dawn, I couldn't sleep longer till I went to my computer. Its an inspiration and a blessing, a song perfectly sang.

This song just reminds me that in this world we don't just sail through, but through pressing on we reach our expectations. Where we fail to stand, He lifts us. What a Saviour we have.

This song is very inspiring, it soothes my heart especially these words "I want to scale the utmost height. And catch a gleam of glory bright; But still I'll pray till rest I've found, Lord, lead me on to higher ground." My determination is to trust God until He comes or calls me home.

To be in the spirit is the key, the secret. In the spirit we will experience many wonderful things of Christ because we have crossed the Jordan and entered into Canaan. When we are in the spirit, we are in the rest, and we are in the Holy of Holies. Therefore, we must always renounce the natural man, the outer man. For example, many times in the Lord's work I was tempted by the enemy to quarrel with others. On those occasions I felt that my reason was right, that the case was mine, and that I had the doctrine to support me. Yet while I was trying to speak, something deep within restricted me and stopped me. In order to go along with that deep feeling, I had to drop my quarreling. Consequently, it seemed that I had nothing to say. But I can testify that every time I went along with the spirit, there was victory. If we take care of our spirit, the mighty One in our spirit will be our strength. We will be transcendent and victorious over many things. When we come to the meetings, we will come with many items of Christ to contribute, either in prayer, singing, giving a testimony, or speaking a short word. Philippians 4:13 says, "I am able to do all things in Him who empowers me." But where does Christ empower us? He empowers us in our spirit. Our mind is the stronghold and the open gate for the enemy, but our spirit is the base for the Lord to do His work. Thus, when we go along with the mind, we are defeated, even though we may be doing something good. But if we go along with the spirit, we will be victorious. We will be on a high mountain, on higher ground, and, in the words of a hymn, "on Canaan's tableland" (Hymns, #396). We will be in the heavens and will be transcendent.
