I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice

1
I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
  And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith,
  And be closer drawn to Thee.

Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
  To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
    To Thy precious, bleeding side.
2
Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
  By the pow'r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
  And my will be lost in Thine.
3
O the pure delight of a single hour
  That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God,
  I commune as friend with friend!
4
There are depths of love that I yet may know
  Ere Thee face to face I see;
There are heights of joy that I yet may reach
  Ere I rest in peace with Thee.

This chorus came to me as I prayed for my 38 yr old daughter. Draw her nearer blessed Lord. So I googled lyrics. Sang the words inserting her name. Others have mentioned vs 4 "as in death" I sang this as in life for her. That she would desire a closer walk with Our King, Our Savior. And that she will experience So Much more of Him! May each One of you Be So Blessed as well!

This song was quickened to me after reading 1Carinthians15 tonight in my devotions. Blessings, and Love to you, for letting me listen.

Greetings in the name of our Lord

This is very useful to sing along for private devotion and also with the congregation, when there is no musician available. But in some Hymns, the pause between stanzas are too long! It would be so helpful if that can be corrected!

Thanks anyway

God bless your efforts to bring out this site.

As others have pointed out, the original 4th stanza says:

There are depths of love that I cannot know

Till I cross the narrow sea;

There are heights of joy that I may not reach

Till I rest in peace with Thee.

Both the original and the hymnal. net versions are true.

I prefer the original because it reminds us that we will die in this life, and we do not need to fear it, and it leads us to be humble. This was the heart of Fanny Crosby.
