1
Will your anchor hold in the storms of life,
When the clouds unfold their wings of strife?
When the strong tides lift, and the cables strain,
Will your anchor drift or firm remain?
When the clouds unfold their wings of strife?
When the strong tides lift, and the cables strain,
Will your anchor drift or firm remain?
We have an anchor that keeps the soul
Stedfast and sure while the billows roll,
Fastened to the Rock which cannot move,
Grounded firm and deep in the Savior's love.
Stedfast and sure while the billows roll,
Fastened to the Rock which cannot move,
Grounded firm and deep in the Savior's love.
2
It is safely moored, 'twill the storm withstand,
For 'tis well secured by the Savior's hand;
And the cables passed from His heart to mine,
Can defy the blast, through strength divine.
For 'tis well secured by the Savior's hand;
And the cables passed from His heart to mine,
Can defy the blast, through strength divine.
3
It will firmly hold in the straits of fear,
When the breakers have told the reef is near;
Though the tempest rave and the wild winds blow,
Not an angry wave shall our bark o'erflow.
When the breakers have told the reef is near;
Though the tempest rave and the wild winds blow,
Not an angry wave shall our bark o'erflow.
4
It will surely hold in the floods of death,
When the waters cold chill our latest breath;
On the rising tide it can never fail,
While our hopes abide within the veil.
When the waters cold chill our latest breath;
On the rising tide it can never fail,
While our hopes abide within the veil.

I woke up this morning and started singing this hymn from memory. I haven't sang it in years so I had to look up the verses , which I could not recall. I grew up singing this in church, but my wife who also grew up in church did not know the song. What an encouraging hymn. Sometimes my soul drifts for a season. When I focus on Jesus, I have an anchor! Praise God for His steadfast love!

I feel fulfilled when I listen or watch the video clip. I sang it at the burial service of my late parents. It has kept me strong.

I simple can't stop singing..it keeps ringing in my ears....Glory to God!

Indeed Jesus Christ the son of the living God is the only anchor we can hold on to in this in this dark world of sins.

Indeed, no anchor like Jesus Christ and I will forever hold on to Him; no matter how strong the tides may be.

As I listen to this this morning, and as I type my comment, my faith tells me, all the storms in my life are all over in Jesus Christ name, Amen.
In these trying times we do need an anchor more than ever before!

The inspiration for the theme of this hymn is expressed beautifully in the Book of Hebrews chapter 6 verse 19.
