Pass me not, O gentle Savior

1
Pass me not, O gentle Savior,
  Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
  Do not pass me by.
  Savior, Savior,
  Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
    Do not pass me by.
2
Let me at Thy throne of mercy
  Find a sweet relief;
Kneeling there in deep contrition,
  Help my unbelief.
3
Trusting only in Thy merit,
  Would I seek Thy face;
Heal my wounded, broken spirit,
  Save me by Thy grace.
4
Thou the spring of all my comfort,
  More than life to me;
Whom have I on earth beside Thee?
  Whom in heaven but Thee?

I always used to think that the last stanza quoting from Psalm 73 was a bit out of place for a gospel song and something only said by more mature Christians rather than sinners seeking salvation, but now realise it is perfect in this context! When we come to the Saviour with a "wounded, broken spirit" we really have the sense that Christ is all we have on earth and in heaven as life, comfort, and healing. There's no other source that can satisfy a person in this state, and that is what the sinner needs to be brought to. Beautiful words.

The story behind this, as told by John Hagee yesterday, is something else. Fanny Crosby, sitting on the end of a pew, blind and listening to an altar call, felt a lady pass by her as the ruffles on her clothes brushed Fanny Crosby when she passed. From that, a pencil and paper and this came about. Now that's inspiration!

This song is reassuring in difficult times that our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, is able to pull us out of any situation.

Soul searching and touching.

I have been travelling accross towns and countries for the past two years trying to concretise business opportunities without putting God at the center of my efforts and nothing has worked till now.

The Almighty God left me with this song in my lips that I could barely hum some words. In the early morning of this faithful Sunday 15th April.
