If I gained the world, but lost the Savior,
Were my life worth living for a day?
Could my yearning heart find rest and comfort
In the things that soon must pass away?
If I gained the world, but lost the Savior,
Would my gain be worth the lifelong strife?
Are all earthly pleasures worth comparing
For a moment with a Christ-filled life?
Were my life worth living for a day?
Could my yearning heart find rest and comfort
In the things that soon must pass away?
If I gained the world, but lost the Savior,
Would my gain be worth the lifelong strife?
Are all earthly pleasures worth comparing
For a moment with a Christ-filled life?

Had I wealth and love in fullest measure,
And a name revered both far and near,
Yet no hope beyond, no harbor waiting,
Where my storm-tossed vessel I could steer;
If I gained the world, but lost the Savior,
Who endured the cross and died for me,
Could then all the world afford a refuge,
Whither, in my anguish, I might flee?
And a name revered both far and near,
Yet no hope beyond, no harbor waiting,
Where my storm-tossed vessel I could steer;
If I gained the world, but lost the Savior,
Who endured the cross and died for me,
Could then all the world afford a refuge,
Whither, in my anguish, I might flee?

O what emptiness!—without the Savior
’Mid the sins and sorrows here below!
And eternity, how dark without Him!
Only night and tears and endless woe!
What, though I might live without the Savior,
When I come to die, how would it be?
O to face the valley’s gloom without Him!
And without Him all eternity!
’Mid the sins and sorrows here below!
And eternity, how dark without Him!
Only night and tears and endless woe!
What, though I might live without the Savior,
When I come to die, how would it be?
O to face the valley’s gloom without Him!
And without Him all eternity!

O the joy of having all in Jesus!
What a balm the broken heart to heal!
Ne’er a sin so great, but He’ll forgive it,
Nor a sorrow that He does not feel!
If I have but Jesus, only Jesus,
Nothing else in all the world beside—
O then everything is mine in Jesus;
For my needs and more He will provide.
What a balm the broken heart to heal!
Ne’er a sin so great, but He’ll forgive it,
Nor a sorrow that He does not feel!
If I have but Jesus, only Jesus,
Nothing else in all the world beside—
O then everything is mine in Jesus;
For my needs and more He will provide.

Thank the Lord that we desire no more when we fully gain HIM..

I remember something about how the poor are blessed because they have no reason to turn to the world and no distraction from Jesus. I feel like the more I lose of the world each day, the more I gain of Jesus, and when the day comes that I overcome this entire age, then I will be able to say that I have everything in my Abba Father Jesus

I love this song because it reminds that everything is vanity without God. Even if we own the entire world but without Him, everything is useless. Christ is the most precious One on earth..

We praise the Lord for enlightening us that life will just be worth living if we have Him. Hallelujah!

We cannot compare all earthly pleasures with a moment of Christ-filled life! Hallelujah!

Oh how need to gain the Lord and not this world. If we gain this world and lost our Savior we dont know if our life is worth living for a day. Because only in Him and to Him we live our life worth living. We find our rest and comfort in Him who will never pass away unlike many things in this world that will pass away...Oh Lord Jesus...May we gain the Lord, saints...

Praise the Lord we had such a Wonderful Savior!!
Nothing can satisfy our lives without Him. Every day we're living with is not meaningful, when we don't enjoy our Savior!! The world is not worthy to have us!!
Our lives will be of no worth when we don't have Him!! All things are just in vain if we don't have Him. Nothing will be worth comparing with a Christ- filled life!!

Oh Lord! This hymn really touched me & really reminded me that all things are just vanity if it is not of God! Often we are occupied with other things and our first love is no longer for the Lord. The Lord doesn't just want our first place, He wants our second place, third place, OUR WHOLE BEING!

Oh how we need to praise the Lord! I really enjoyed this hymn because as a young person, you still have a lot of things to go through and experience. There's so much things happening around us. At times, you are so busy with your things, it ends up that we don't really enjoy the Lord. But Hallelujah! This song was such a reminder for me! Even if I gained everything in the world but lost the Savior, there is no meaning in our lives! This hymn should be a daily reminder to us! We need to live by the Lord each and every day! He is all in all!
