Just to enjoy Thy word

NS681
1
Just to enjoy Thy word,
I come to Thee, dear Lord;
Spirit and life, I need to gain,
Through Thee, O living Word!
2
Just to enjoy Thy word,
Thy Testaments for man—
Spoken through men by Spirit borne—
Reveal Thy hidden plan.
3
Just to enjoy Thy word,
Prophets spoke from of old
The coming Savior of God’s plan;
Now through the Son ‘tis told.
4
Just to enjoy Thy word;
God’s covenant to share;
God’s promises made real through faith,
Laid hold of by my prayer.
5
Just to enjoy Thy Word;
He’s God expressed, defined;
My spirit with His Spirit joined,
God’s grace I’ll surely find.
6
Just to enjoy Thy word;
Thy constant, written word,
Mingled with prayer, becomes in me
Thine instant, spoken word.
7
Just to enjoy Thy word,
Thy words anticipate,
Cry out at dawn, and hope in them,
On them to ruminate.
8
Just to enjoy Thy word,
The living God to see,
As hart doth pant for cooling streams,
I pant, O God, for Thee.
9
Just to enjoy Thy word,
Flooding my path with light;
Let it pierce through, illuminate,
Dispel my heart’s dark night.
10
Just to enjoy Thy word,
Do make my heart, good ground!
Let Thy word’s seed take root and grow,
That from me fruit abound.
11
Just to enjoy Thy word,
For Thou Thyself didst say,
Man shall not live by bread alone,
But by Thy word each day.
12
Just to enjoy Thy word,
Coming as crumbs, so small,
Reaching me in my lowest state,
To be my all in all.
13
Just to enjoy Thy word,
Thy lips bring words of grace;
Sweeter than honey to my mouth,
Oh, how it cheers always!
14
Just to enjoy Thy word,
I ate the words I found,
And they became the gladness, joy,
That makes my heart resound!
15
Just to enjoy Thy word,
Spirit’ual food to me—
As guileless milk, then solid food—
Unto maturity.
16
Just to enjoy Thy word,
A two-edged sword to me,
Which divides spirit from the soul,
My thoughts, intents to see.
17
Just to enjoy Thy word,
Thy Word instructeth me,
It is God-breathed to make complete
The man of God in me.
18
Just to enjoy Thy word,
God’s proclaimed Jubilee!
From sin released, to land returned—
We’re made God’s family!
19
Just to enjoy Thy word,
Which each day fresh does fall,
As heaven’s manna coming down,
To be our all in all.
20
Just to enjoy Thy word,
Save from fall’s sin and stain;
Reconstitute with manna pure;
Thy holy people gain.
21
Just to enjoy Thy word,
Our daily, sure supply;
Eating this manna heavenly,
Thy church we’ll build thereby.
22
Just to enjoy Thy word,
Hold forth the word of life;
God’s luminaries, blameless, shine,
Amidst this world of strife.
23
Just to enjoy Thy word,
With it, go forth to sow,
Watering men’s hearts faithfully,
That God may cause to grow.
24
Just to enjoy Thy Word,
Our hearts with love o’erflow,
With one another, Christ we share,
Thy Body thus doth grow.
25
Just to enjoy Thy word,
Let Christ’s word richly dwell,
Speak, teach, admonish, sing with grace
To saints and God as well.
26
Just to enjoy Thy word;
The speaking Spirit, hear;
As Son of Man midst lampstands moves,
Cares for His churches dear.
27
Just to enjoy Thy word;
Thy truth doth sanctify,
Become our full reality,
And oneness bring thereby.
28
Just to enjoy Thy word,
To be prepared His bride;
We’re by its washing, cleansing pow’r
Made holy, glorified!
29
Just to enjoy Thy word,
The Spirit’s sword receive;
By means of prayer, petitioning,
We victory achieve.
30
Just to enjoy Thy word,
Richly, in many ways,
Till it is our memorial,
Throughout eternal days.
31
Just to enjoy Thy word,
Faithful Thy surety;
Though heav’n and earth shall pass away,
It stands eternally.

You are the living Word oh Lord. When we touch the Bible with our spirit, we get Spirit. The real key is emphasized in this song. It is to just enjoy the word. It’s like eating. If we don’t enjoy our food we wouldn’t eat. Vs 11 speaks of the Word as our bread. Vs 14 is the explanation of where the enjoyment comes from. I ate the words I found. They become the gladness, joy, that makes my heart resound. I have experienced that!.

Remember Eating the word is taking it in by faith. It is how our heart is turned as we approach the Bible.
