The Father’s dwelling-place,
The gathering of the called ones,
God blended with man’s race;
Elect before creation,
Redeemed by Calv’ry’s death,
Her character and standing
Of heaven, not of earth.
Born through her risen Lord,
Baptized in God the Spirit,
Made holy by His Word;
Christ is her life and content,
Himself her glorious Head;
She has ascended with Him
O’er all her foes to tread.
None other man may lay;
All that she has, as Christ, is
Divine in every way;
Her members through the Spirit
Their death on Calv’ry own;
They’re built in resurrection—
Gold, silver, precious stone.
Her elements all one—
One faith, one hope, one baptism,
One Body in the Son;
The triune God is in her,
One Body members own,
By faith they are united,
In hope of glory shown.
Do all the members come,
Regardless of their classes
United to be one.
No high there is, nor lowly,
No Jew, nor Gentile clan,
No free, nor slave, nor master,
But Christ, the “one new man.”
One in each place expressed;
Locality of dwelling
Her only ground possessed;
Administration local,
Each answ’ring to the Lord;
Communion universal,
Upheld in one accord.
The New Jerusalem;
Its aspects and its details
Must show in all of them.
Christ is the Lamp that shineth,
With God within, the Light;
They are the lampstands bearing
His glorious Image bright.

I am very grateful to the Lord for this wonderful hymn written by Brother Lee. I have not seen or sang its words for too, too long. I am amazed that this morning I simply woke up with the last two lines of verse 1 on my lips... but how did they just appear... from where? How did it just so happen that I would open my eyes, sit up, and there they are... these nine words... "Her character and standing, of heaven not of earth", referring to the general definition of the Church. Then I looked up this hymn with the key words "character and standing." What a full, rich hymn! Thank you, Lord... there is so much I don't "get" because of my natural man and the revelation and substance are of the Spirit... yet, little by little the truths get forged into our being by daily morning revival, ruminating on hymns like this one, and fellowship with the saints. I appreciate this so much.

Praise the Lord! There is one Body in this universe, with Christ as the Head and the church as the Body.
We as the Body of Christ are the continuation, expression, fullness, and embodiment of Christ to express Christ in the church.
As the living foundation of the church, Christ holds, supports, and dispenses Himself into every part of God’s building. Hallelujah!

This hymn is full of rich truths. Some are derived from revelation of old church fathers and some are from recent gifts. This reminds me of Maple syrup. It is very sweet, but it took a long time for that little trickle of maple sap to become syrup and it took a special man.

What a wonderful hymn inspired by God’s word. Thank you, apostle Paul for this wonderful revelation shown to you and given to us through faithful gifts. What an inspiration of Gods desire, Christ’s body. Thank you for being a proper pattern of the Christian life. May even more be released through your words and life. We recognize your speaking is God’s speaking. You are truly one who learned obedience to the holy Spirit.

Praise the Lord for our Fathers purpose, and plan, in bringing us many sons into Glory, as the church, the Fathers dwelling place. Thank You Father that we have Your life, and nature, and we ARE becoming the New Jerusalem. We are precious ‘living’ stones for Your building work. The New Jerusalem is Your ultimate consummation, it will express You in fullness, in its details, and its aspects!
