Take the name of Jesus with you,
Child of sorrow and of woe;
It will joy and comfort give you,
Take it then where’er you go.
Child of sorrow and of woe;
It will joy and comfort give you,
Take it then where’er you go.
Precious name! Oh, how sweet!
Hope of earth and joy of heav’n;
Precious name! Oh, how sweet!
Hope of earth and joy of heav’n.
Hope of earth and joy of heav’n;
Precious name! Oh, how sweet!
Hope of earth and joy of heav’n.

Take the name of Jesus ever,
As a shield from every snare.
If temptations ’round you gather,
Breathe that holy name in prayer.
As a shield from every snare.
If temptations ’round you gather,
Breathe that holy name in prayer.

Oh, the precious name of Jesus,
How it thrills our souls with joy;
All the favor of the Father
In this name we may enjoy.
How it thrills our souls with joy;
All the favor of the Father
In this name we may enjoy.

At the name of Jesus bowing,
Falling prostrate at His feet,
Claim His vict’ry over evil
And the enemy defeat.
Falling prostrate at His feet,
Claim His vict’ry over evil
And the enemy defeat.

I am laying awake tonight wondering what song to sing for my dear, sweet mother's burial later this week, and this song came to mind. Indeed, what joy and comfort we have in the precious name of Jesus! He is the Hope of us left behind here on earth, and the Joy of my mother in Heaven!

This hymn during morning devotion this morning gave me a renewed hope. The last half of last year and most months of this year have witnessed many deaths amongst family and friends of mine. But today I cease to cry like those without hope. I wish most worship centers will go back to hymns. They're simply divine and inspiring. God bless the memories of Lydia the composer for today words she wrote almost 160 years ago brought me hope and joy.

Praise God!!! The name of Jesus thrills our souls with joy Amen. What a precious name Jesus is. The deaf hears the name of Jesus and start hearing, the dumb speaks, the blind see, the lame walk, the barren becomes fruitful, the sorrowful becomes joyful, the sinner becomes save, the saved soul becomes sanctified and the sanctified believers becomes filled with the Holy Ghost Power. Thank God for Jesus. Amen. Thanks for uploading this song and God bless you all. Shalom!!!

I awakened this morning singing this song, although I hadn't heard it for many years. The original stanza that says, "King of Kings and Lords we'll crown Him when our journey is complete" has been a choking point for me for a number of years. If I understand my Bible, when the Father said to Jesus, "Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies Your footstool," Jesus became King at that moment. He will not be king when He returns, He is NOW king. I love the revised version of those lines, "Claim His victory over evil/And the enemy defeat." It speaks of a triumphant Church applying Calvary's victory to earth's current distress. Awesome.

Verse 4 in our SDA Church Hymnal: King of kings in Heaven we'll crown Him
When our journey is complete.
This is true, but I like what it says here better: claim His victory over evil, and the enemy defeat.
Faith is the living power that passes through every barrier, overrides each obstacle, and plants its banner in the heart of the enemies' camp.

After my bible study lately, this song continues to permeate my spirit. I feel the spirit ushering me to sing it. Maybe it's just familiar because in my home church after bible study the woman always sang this song, nevertheless it brings me so much joy! Praise God...Amen

The name of Jesus is the easiest weapon to carry with you in the face of battle, no matter how fierce. Just keep breathing it in.
Glory be to God!
