Fear not, little flock, from the cross to the throne

E649
1
Fear not, little flock, from the cross to the throne,
From death into life He went for His own;
All power in earth, all power above,
Is given to Him for the flock of His love.

Only believe, only believe;
All things are possible, only believe;
Only believe, only believe;
  All things are possible, only believe.
2
Fear not, little flock, He goeth ahead,
Your Shepherd selecteth the path you must tread;
The waters of Marah He’ll sweeten for thee,
He drank all the bitter in Gethsemane.
3
Fear not, little flock, whatever your lot,
He enters all rooms, “the doors being shut”
He never forsakes, He never is gone,
So count on His presence in darkness and dawn.

If I can do nothing else, the one thing that I can do is to believe. Jesus, Lord, I believe you.

This song combines 2 verses in Mark:

Mark 5:36 Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not fear, only believe.

9:23 And Jesus said to him, “ ‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes. ”

I just read in a book about a mission to New Guinea that were captured by the Japanese and her husband had died in a concentration camp. She was to be killed but the words of the last verse came to mind to give her hope and she did survive.

May God bless you for having this song available to touch hearts. It means so much to me as a stepping stone when all hope is lost... I cling to this song in my heart from years ago and when I found it, I had to comment. Wishing you much peace, love and blessings!

This song has so much meaning during this 2020 Easter season in the midst of this global covid-19 pandemic when everyone is social distancing with so many questions and so few answers...."He never forsakes, He never is gone, so count on His presence in darkness and dawn....... only believe, only believe."

Paul Rader was born in Denver Colorado in 1879 and died in 1938. He was a fellow laborer with AB Simpson who founded the Christian Missionary Alliance. After Simpson’s death, Rader became its second president. Paul was saved early in his childhood and even sang as a soloist in his father’s Methodist congregation. He went on to college and afterwards finished a post graduate program in Harvard. At this time he entered into post-liberalism which led him into a business partnership.

One day while walking down New York City Times Square, God spoke to him through an illuminated sign. He rented a room and fell on his face before the Lord That day Rader’s life changed. He began a lifetime of service first by pastoring the Congregational Church in Pittsburgh followed by the Christian Missionary Alliance Tabernacle, the Moody Memorial Church in Chicago, the Chicago Gospel Tabernacle and the Gospel Temple In Indiana. Rader was best known however, for his radio broadcasts which were heard all over Chicago and his influence over hundreds of young Christian men to enter the ministry.

This hymn which Paul wrote and composed is one of many hymns he also wrote that are part of Christian hymnals today.

Amen, brother Paul. We need these songs in our heart to be able to sing them by heart, so we can sing them joyfully when trials come like Paul and Silas did when their feet were in the stocks and their backs cut by being whipped in Acts 16.

And even more so with the great tribulation coming, and who knows for sure whether we will be here on earth or not.
