Turn your eyes upon Jesus

1
O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
  In the light of His glory and grace.
2
Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
O’er us sin no more hath dominion
For more than conqu’rors we are!
3
His Word shall not fail you, He promised;
Believe Him and all will be well;
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!

My heart says of you, "Seek his face!"

Your face, Lord, I will seek.

'... fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. '

Someone started singing the chorus of this song at the end of our prayer meeting tonight and I was so happy and blessed to hear it. I remember years ago when I was going through a really rough time, I would just sing the chorus over and over and over, and it helped me so much. May it bless you in the same way!

Carol, Kim, Julie, and families,

I watched and read this week about a single lady missionary to the country of Algiers. She was born in 1853 in London to a wealthy family. She had world class artistic talent and career possibilities in her younger years which she forfeited to follow her calling as a servant of God. She chose to follow her calling and God used her in mighty ways as she applied her artistic talent, her writing abilities, and unselfish love for others to minister to a people in a faraway desert.

She wrote a tract called ‘Focus’ and in it was an illustration of a small dandelion soaking up the sunlight which peaked through the large trees in a woods. This tract and illustration made an impression on Helen Lemmel to investigate the life of Trotter. Lemmel later in her life, inspired by Trotter, wrote the song ‘Turn your eyes upon Jesus’ even though she had become physically blind herself.

Trotter drew gorgeous illustrations of flowers, which were out in the middle of nowhere, possibly only seen by God. She wrote ‘walk independently of self and straight to God. What is anything in life except a means to eternity. ’ In Algiers she had a tiny prayer room where she daily prayed. On the wall she wrote artistically…we do not yet see…but we see Jesus.

Howard has left a legacy of impressions on many people, and God used him greatly as a vessel to reach others for Christ. I am hurt and grieve for my brother. After a life of giving and serving, he had to die in obscurity in a hospital room with anguish, loneliness, and humbly like a little dandelion that no one ever sees but God. Still what is life if it doesn’t lead to eternity. His crowns are there for him that he will lay at Jesus’ feet. I am excited for Howard and our family members already in heaven. I long for what they are experiencing.

We pray that you find God’s grace, love, and peace sufficient in this trial of giving your husband, father, grandfather, and friend to be in the presence of Christ.

The Holy Spirit put this song on my heart this morning. The first part of the chorus, turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, played over and over in my heart. I haven't thought of and have not heard this song in years. I looked up the song to remember the rest of the chorus and verses, and found this site. Reading other's comments blessed me, so I am leaving one as well. May God bless all of us, His precious children, as we look to Jesus and trust in Him. Makes me think of a favorite scripture, Psalm 61:2 "When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the Rock that is higher than I." Thank you precious Jesus, my Savior, Redeemer, and Restorer, for Your peace and love! I've been praying the scriptures John 14:27 and Matthew 11:28. I hope these scriptures help anyone else who comes across this. Jesus is right there with you. You are not alone!

This hymn really speaks to me. As a follower of Jesus worldly temptations have lost their appeal and I feel content not seeking these things. My spirit longs to be closer with the Lord and that more people will discover the peace and comfort of trusting in Him.
