O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free.
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free.
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
O’er us sin no more hath dominion
For more than conqu’rors we are!
He passed, and we follow Him there;
O’er us sin no more hath dominion
For more than conqu’rors we are!

His Word shall not fail you, He promised;
Believe Him and all will be well;
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!
Believe Him and all will be well;
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!

This is a fabulous site for someone who plays by ear, and can learn the melody quickly by listening to a song, picking up sometimes the melody for the verse when all I remember is the chorus to a song. Thank you so much. Would like to be able to print out the tablature, so I could use the visual notes to remember the melody, but don't seem to have that capability- maybe having to do with copyrights?

Thank You for the lovely reminder. It has been a struggle to NOT look at the world. Lord help me!

Enid Burt, thank you for your post. It has been an overwhelming year. And your words just struck a chord. Thanks.
We started off this year with nearly 5 feet of snow and trying to build a house in this winter. Both my wife and I got pneumonia...lost 7 new lambs because we couldn't make it to the barn. I am the worship leader at our church, and Only, ONLY, ONLY when my EYES WERE UPON JESUS..did I know the "PEACE THAT PASSES UNDERSTANDING." I dearly love the history and the message of this hymn.

I do not lose my heart! Jesus alone...
I'm so grateful for these old hymns. So often when trouble seems overwhelming these songs enter my mind and bring peace-especially in the dark of night. How sad that there are people who do not have this to cling to. I pray that I can share the good news of Christ ans that others will find you, even in a song.

This hymn was my lifeline through 2016. Reminded me of Jehoshaphat when the vast army was approaching. He said "we do not know what to do. But our eyes are FIXED on You"
When the storms of life are raging in our homes, in our marriage, with our children, in our life's circumstances, in our hearts and minds. Remember the diciples went to Jesus during the storm, they went to Him because He was their only Hope. The word "went" means to depart from to go elsewhere. Where do we go to, when we depart from our troubles? Do we go to our neighbor, alcohol, medication? Or do we turn our eyes to Jesus as Jehoshaphat did. God's word says " I look to the hills from whence cometh my help, my help cometh from the Lord who made heaven and earth" these reminders have been my source of encouragement and strength through 2016. I desire in 2017 to live at the foot of the Cross of my Saviour in reverance and humble submission, and look up, turn my eyes to Jesus.

I awake in the early morning hours thinking about the distance between my son, daughter in law and grandson. The words of this song began to fill my mind and heart with God's love...what comfort and peace. The cares of my family are in the arms of the Lord!
