Take my life, and let it be

1
Take my life, and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.
2
Take my hands, and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love;
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee,
Swift and beautiful for Thee.
3
Take my voice, and let me sing
Always, only, for my King;
Take my lips, and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee,
Filled with messages from Thee.
4
Take my silver and my gold;
Not a mite would I withhold;
Take my intellect, and use
Every power as Thou shalt choose,
Every power as Thou shalt choose.
5
Take my will, and make it Thine;
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart; it is Thine own;
It shall be Thy royal throne,
It shall be Thy royal throne.
6
Take my love; my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure-store.
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee,
Ever, only, all for Thee.

I used it as a prayer this morning. May God bless His words.

My theme song for 2021... worshipping Him for leading us... where we are in the world... to this message.

I was about ending my prayer when 'take my life and let it be' came to heart, so I decided to look up the remaining stanzas... and every single stanza just SPELLS out my heart cry.

Thank you Holy Spirit 💕

Is a hymn that say something about once commitment to God. Our total surrender unto Him.

It’s amazing to see the Lord work in our lives, and hear Him speaking to us, and to draw us unto Him!

I too had this song come to my remembrance this morning after reading the Bible. Father, use all of me and all I have to glorify you.

I just finished praying when this ding came to my mind and I so wanted to sing it that I searched for the lyrics. God bless the composer, it is so refreshing. Thank you Holy Spirit.

Frances Havergal wrote the book "Kept for the Master's Use" about this hymn. She finished the book shortly before her early departure to be with the Lord. There is a chapter on each of the "Take's" in the hymn. In the book she replaced the verb "Take" with "Keep" - keeping for and being kept by the Lord as a sequel to our offering and the Lord taking.

Surprisingly to me, Frances says the most difficult thing for most saints to have kept by the Lord is their voice and lips in stanza 3. It is strange that this is surprising to me, as that is my experience also. Frances tells the personal story of a young girl who could see the presence of the Lord in Frances and wanted to know the Lord so much, but Frances talked to her about other nice things expecting the girl to bring up the subject, but the girl was too shy. The girl eventually was led to the Lord by someone else, and the girl told Frances, "Ah, Miss F. , I ought to have been yours!" You can get the audiobook "Kept for the Master's Use" for free from Librivox" and you can get the Kindle version for free from Gutenberg.
